Ethan sat in the tree house, thinking about Mark, who was laid next to him. He had tugged his earbuds out of his phone, so his music blasted for both boys to hear.

Do any of these words make sense?
Am I fighting to be heard but leaving no defence?
Can you understand where I'm coming from?
All my friends are dead
And their bodies gone

"So this is the music you're in to?" Marks voice startled Ethan out of a daze. He stopped mouthing the words to the song long enough to answer the boy next to him.

"Yeah, I guess," Mark smiled at the younger boy.

"I like it," Ethan looked away so Mark couldn't see him blush and went back to mouthing the words.

We live in selfish introspection of our own dark light
Polluting minds with retrospection was it worth the fight?
I can't seem to find the escape hatch
But I'm sick of sitting tight

"Have you heard of Blackbear?" The question slipped past Ethans lips. He immediately regretted it. Mark looked at the boy.

"Yeah?" He said. It sounded like a question. "Why?"

"Nevermind."

Trapped inside warheads I'm bunkered with ashen soul
Your crooked heart's still beating, begging eyes to witness more

"So what do think of the whole... 'We're meant for each other' stuff?" Ethan finally looked at the boy.

"I hate it."

Causing our own demise
Causing our own demise
Causing our own demise
Causing our own

Ethan turned back to the sky. He started to sing to the song, forgetting Mark was there at all.

"Are we just drowning?
Can you please save us?
Black walls surrounding
Can you please save my soul?
Are we just drowning?
Can you please save us?
Black walls surrounding
Can you please save my soul?"

"You have a nice voice," Mark spoke up after listening to Ethan.

"No, I don't," Ethan replied instantly.

Counting sheep to fall asleep in my lonely hole
In the wall of this city's ever darkening core
All opinions change as you'll learn to see
It seems insincere
Call it a human plea

"You have low selfesteem, don't you?" Mark stared in wonder as Ethan turned away from the raven.

"I guess you could say that."

The blind will lead the blind into their tangled web of lies
Chasing phantom vision of a past they left behind
A victim of another hack plan
Tired of wasting time

"But I prefere to say I don't accept compliment by choice."

"Why?" Mark asked, obviously curious.

Trapped inside warheads I'm bunkered with ashen soul
Your crooked heart's still beating, begging eyes to witness more

"I don't like to get my hopes up. People dissapoint me a lot," Ethan replied, still watching the clouds. 'They look so free. So peaceful.' Ethan thought to himself. He smiled.

Are we just drowning?
Can you please save us?
Black walls surrounding
Can you please save my soul?
Are we just drowning?
Can you please save us?
Black walls surrounding
Can you please save my soul?

Ethan looked to Mark.

"What did you see?" He asked.

"What do you mean?" Mark asked the small boy, puzzeled.

"In your dreams. What did you see?" Ethan explained.

Causing our own demise
Causing our own
Causing our own demise
Causing our own

"I saw your family, I saw Domonic, and a little girl with pigtails."

"Lily," Ethan smiled. Mark smiled too.

"Lily. I like that name," Mark said quietly.

"I'll tell her."

"I saw the cafe, and the tree house obviously."

"D-Did you see... Rudy?" Ethan asked.

"I don't know... Is that the man who was throwing beer bottles at a wall?" Mark looked at Ethan, waiting for his response.

Causing our own demise
Causing our own
Causing our own demise
Causing our own

"It was actually a picture... with my dad... but yeah," Ethan looked to the tree, sitting up.

"I hate him already," Mark told the boy in front of him, sitting up as well. Ethan giggled. Mark melted at the sound. Ethan looked at Mark.

"So do I," He said. Mark smiled at the broken boy. Ethan leaned against the wall of the house, Mark joining him. Mark let his hand find Ethans, letting it sit on top of the boys. Ethan turned to him and smiled. Mark returned the smile, and both boys looked to the sky.

Are we just drowning?
Can you please save us?
Are we just drowning?
Can you please save my soul?

"So peaceful," Ethn sighed. Mark smiled, again.

Are we just drowning?
Can you please save us?
Are we just drowning?
Are we just drowning?
