Ethan looked into the sky, watching the puffy white clouds chase each other, trying to forget his last dream.
His soul mate was waiting at the café, his café.
So, logically, he would never go to the café again.
Instead, he went to a place he knew his soul mate would find but never be able to get to. His old tree house.
The wooden steps to Etahns childhood play place had long since fallen to rot on the ground. So to get up, Ethan had to climb to a lot of different branches, some anybody could stand on, and some only some one of Ethans weight and height could stand on without falling or breaking them.
The tree house was made out of oak ply wood and was set into a cherry blossom tree, hidden in the pink flowering blooms. The floor was always covered in a thin layer of pink petals and small twigs. It was quite big, seeing as it could fit Ethan, Dominic, his brother, and Lily, his sister. The house had no roof, giving anyone who lied down on the floor an amazing veiw of the bright blue sky.
That was precisely what Ethan was doing, lying and watching clouds, memorizing the path to the house--a long and twised dirt path only wide enough to have one person through at a time, thick woods pushing in on either side. Anyone not familiar with the area would get lost very quickly, which was to Ethans favour--his soul mate would have some trouble getting through with all the turns the path took.
Ethan was also watching the beautiful sky, wondering what dreams his soul mate had seen. Had he seen the pain? His dad leaving to never come back? His step-father, and the abuse he dealt out? Had he seen the scars?
Ethan sucked in a gasp of air as he realized his soul mate could have seen the state his mum was in, perpetually drunk and angry. Did his soul mate even care? Ethan hoped he didn't. It would make it easier to avoid him.
Ethan dreams had been very detailed, and even told him that his soul mate had a four letter name. He had to be at least eighteen, if not nineteen. Ethan himself was seventeen, so it wasn't that big of an age gap.
Ethan listened to music, blasting from his earphones.
Lips meet teeth and tongue
My heart skips eight beats at once
If we were meant to be, we would have been by now
See what you wanna see, but all I see is him right nowI'll sit and watch your car burn
With the fire that you started in me
But you never came back to ask it out
Go ahead and watch my heart burn
With the fire that you started in me
But I'll never let you back to put it outEthan once again thought about what his soul mates dreams could have been.
Your love feels so fake
And my demands aren't high to makeOne of them had to have been about the cafe.
If I could get to sleep, I would have slept by now
Your lies will never keep, I think you need to blow 'em outEthan knew one of them would be about the tree house, but not yet. He had some time. To think about where he would go next, once his soul mate had the dream that would give away where he was.
I'll sit and watch your car burn
With the fire that you started in me
But you never came back to ask it out
Go ahead and watch my heart burn
With the fire that you started in me
But I'll never let you back to put it out
