Chapter 7. The first lesson.

Sebastian had decided to give Mabel her first lesson while preparing the dining room. Currently at this moment he had busied himself with choosing the dinner plates. Mabel was standing beside him looking extremely bored.

"Sebastian." She tapped his shoulder gently. Sebastian didn't budge. His eyes were focused on the intricate design of a plate he was holding.

"Sebastian~" she advanced to shaking his shoulder a bit more aggressively. Still no response came from the demon butler.

"Sebastian! You said you were going to teach me something! What are we doing here?" She let all her morals run loose and vigorously shook his whole arm causing the plate to slip from his arms and crash on the ground.

Mabel squeaked in surprise and took two steps from him. She brought her hands in front to shield her from the demon's wrath.

"S-sorry Mr.Michaelis!" She whispered as she closed her eyes expecting him to lash out at her.

What she wasn't expecting was two hands to wrap around her and feel enclosed into a strong grip and her head buried in a shirt that smelled of....

"Is that lavender I smell Sebastian?"

"Yes indeed it is." He answered as he pushed her head closer to his chest, compelling her to indulge in the lovely fragrance. For a moment she did allow herself to enjoy it and she wrapped her arms around his neck and brought them even closer. That was before she realised what was happening.

"Oh no you don't! You only get my services if you give me a soul - which you don't have!"

"I have another thing to give you my dear."

"What could you possibly have to give me?"

"I have love."

"You have to be joking Sebastian. We've only known each other for a day! Besides you and I are demons. We are practically incapable of feeling anything like that."

Sebastian grinned." However your actions have suggested something else. To a normal human one might think you loved me and wanted to pursue a relationship. That's what a normal human would see."

Mabel's eyes widened in realisation,"Then that means... But I don't love you!"

"But that's what your actions suggested. Lesson number 1: Try to see your actions from another's perspective."

Mabel blinked.

"W-Wait! This was a lesson?" Her mouth opened in shock and her hands held her face as she stared wide-eyed at the butler.

"Yes it was and I think it worked perfectly."

"How? You're meant to be teaching me how to act NORMAL!!"

The demon grinned knowingly." Yes and I did that. I'm teaching you how to be normal by showing you what NOT to do. For instance, if I were to do this," Sebastian pulled out a red rose that had petals that were slowly fading into black. He lowered onto one knee and offered it to her." What might a human think was happening?"

The demoness folded her arms and held her chin in thought before she slowly spoke." They would think we were courting each other. Oh no! I've been giving so many humans the wrong impression. They must see me as a harlot - which I could be technically - but I don't need everyone to see me like that!"

"Very good you're learning well Mabel you just need to stop seeing every human as a possible target. Now," he said as he stood up and put the rose in her hair. "Help me choose the tableware for dinner."
