"Rebecca didn't say anything, she didn't even act as if she saw anything" Jessie thought as she got ready for school the next morning. The bus ride to school was quite, Rebecca sat in the front with her friends; Jessie sat in the back alone against the window, blaring 80's music through her headphones.
"JESSIE!" Gracelyn, Jessie's friend yelled down the hallway causing Jessie to hide her face in her locker as it became red as a tomato. "Keep it down Grace, I don't want to draw any attention..." Her voice trails off as every eye was already on them both and laughter filled the halls. "Oops, I'm sorry Jess" Gracelyn said while wrapping Jessie up in a hug.
As last bell rang and the hallways flood with smelly jocks and prissy cheerleaders; Jessie and Gracelyn closed their lockers and started walking to the bus "Becca! I'm riding with Grace today!" Jessie yelled as they walked to Gracelyn's car.
"Soo I need to tell you something" Jessie turned toward Gracelyn. "I signed up for a chat room!" She blurted out "but.. I'm too afraid to message anyone..." The car fell silent and then suddenly Gracelyn busted out in a god awful hyena laugh " Seriously? It's the internet, you'll probably never meet these people!" Jessie shook her head in agreement "Your right Gracie, thanks for always being so awesome!"
Jessie sat in her room debating on if she should get online and chat with some new people "Who knows, maybe I'll make some new friends right? It's not like I have to meet any of them.." She thought to herself as she grabbed the laptop off her desk before laying on the bed.
* 1 NEW MESSAGE*
"I didn't message anyone?" She thought puzzled as she clicked on the envelope at the top of the screen.
"Hey I'm Meg, it's nice to meet you too Jess."
"What...? I didn't message her??" Just then Jessie remembered Rebecca borrowed the laptop last night "I'm gonna kill that kid!" Jess got up and stormed into Rebecca's pink pepto room "BECCA!" Rebecca jumped almost falling off her stuff animal infested bed. "How dare you!" Jessie choked up as tears started swelling up in her eyes "I was just trying to help Jess, I'm sorry it won't happen again! Please don't hurt me Jess, I won't tell mom!" Rebecca begged as tears streamed down her face. Guilty Jessie pulled her little sister in for a hug "I'm not gonna hurt you... just don't do it again, okay?" They looked at each other when their mom yelled up the stairs.
Jessie skipped dinner; instead she sat in front of her computer typing and retyping a message back to "Meg".*Reply*
I like your hair! How old are you? Did your parents freak when you dyed it?She sent the message.
"Now it's the waiting game" Jess said as she relaxed into the stack of pillows on her bed.
