The school year was almost over; the pep rally was about to begin and the gymnasium started to fill with hundreds of students, teachers, and the principal. Jessie and Brandon sat together as they had been planning all week. Jessie couldn't help but notice then familiar voice that came from behind her, turning around she made eye contact with Gracelyn who was alone. No Ashley.
Jessie snapped around, nudging Brandon in the ribs with her boney elbow "don't be obvious but look behind us" she whispered. Undisguised, Brandon turns around and extends his arm "Hello!" He chimes with a smile as Gracelyn responses with a confused look and returned handshake. "I'm your replacement bitch" Jessie's jaw dropped; though they were on the top row of bleachers, she was sure her bottom jaw was now on the floor. Gracelyn retracted her hand, not saying a word; Brandon turned around nonchalant, with a big grin stretched across his face. Still in disbelief Jessie questioned what had just happened; "did he really just do that?" She felt a smile grow upon her face, she couldn't help but beam.
After the pep rally Brandon went on to his locker; they planned to meet back at Meg's house to hang out and watch movies. Jessie didn't even make it out of the gymnasium doors before Gracelyn stopped her "What the was that about?" She commanded.
Jessie panicked, Brandon wasn't here to protect her "Gracelyn was my best friend, she wouldn't hurt me.." She reflected, trying coaching herself into not fleeing. "You just have to over look Brandon, he's a very...umm" before Jessie could finish, Gracelyn drew her in for a hug. It was awkward, the most awkward hug of the century "this is worse and random old church granny hugs" she observed. Out of nowhere, Gracelyn broke down into tears; apologizing for everything and trying to explain herself...
Jessie pondered.
"Should I forgive her?... I'm mean she was my best friend.."
