"Cut to the chase already!" Gracelyn demanded. "Welll... You see.." She bagan; Just as the words came out of Jessie's mouth, the last bell rang and she disappeared into the crowd of people. When she reached the outside doors; her jaw dropped, her feet couldn't move even though people were pushing into her and almost knocking her down.
There stood Meg; leaned against her shiny black mustang, same leather boots, but sexy black sunglasses that fit her face perfectly. Jessie snapped out of her daze when Gracelyn pulled her back in the doors "What is she doing here?" She protested. "Uhh I don't know" Jessie replied confused. "So you think her sunglasses are sexy?" Gracelyn said puzzled. " I uhh... Said that out loud? Who else heard?!" Just as Gracelyn was about to respond Meg walked through the doors and stuck out her hand to Gracelyn "Hi! I'm Megan, everyone calls me Meg though" they shook hands and both turned to Jessie. "I'm Gracelyn but my FRIENDS call me Grace" she replied not taking her eyes off Jessie. The look; glare, from Gracelyn sends shivers down her spine. "Can we talk alone?" Gracelyn pulls Jessie off without waiting for her to answer. "What's going on?" Jessie spike out of fear. "You can't go with her! What are you thinking, don't you remember what she did?" The grip on Jessie's arm gets tighter as her eyes widen and the dreadful words start ringing; bouncing off every inch of Jessie's skull.
"Why would she do that?"
It echoes now; as if it too were standing in the empty school bathroom, like the words traveled right out of her mouth and now banging off the walls... The ceiling... The floor.... Everywhere; it's following her, haunting her, becoming every thought of every day.
Eat.
Sleep.
"Why would she do that?"
Jessie pulled her arm away from Gracelyn and ran, until she found herself in Meg's arms. It felt safe there; peaceful and calming, until then Gracelyn came into sight again, but then just like that... Gone.
Jessie didn't want to talk about what happened, all she knew was that she wanted to go home; but not her own. Looking up into Meg's sea green eyes; she knew that's where she wanted to be, so that's where they went."I'm almost 18... Can't I just stay here forever?" Jessie batted her deep blue eyes in Meg's direction as they laid on the couch. "I wish, it's so much fun having you here.. less lonely too.." Meg leaned down and kissed her forehead softly.
