"Some days I close my eyes and fade away
That's just the dark side of me
Some nights all the colors turn to gray
Just like the dark side of me
I'm not afraid of the dark"
-Darkside by Future and Ty Dolla Sign

Stiles
"Stiles... Stiles!" Lydia yelled, "Come on Stiles you can't sleep through my favorite part!"

"Lydia, leave her alone she had a long day at work. It's not like we haven't seen The Notebook a million times anyway." Derek scolded.

I open my eyes to an unfamiliar living room curled up in a blanket on the couch next to Derek with Lydia on his other side. The lights were turned off and the tv played on low showing Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams kissing in the rain.

"What's happening, where am I?" I asked them.

"Man, working with the Anderson's kid must have really worn you out if you can't even remember it's movie night." Derek spoke with an amused grin on his face while he moved his arms to wrap around Lydia and I's shoulders.

"Stiles, really you were the one who decided we would rotate who picked the movie you can't get out of watching The Notebook." Lydia rolls her eyes.

"Where am I?" I asked again, still confused.

"You're at home. Sweetie, are you feeling all right?" Lydia asked concerned brushing my hair behind my ears and checking my forehead.

"Look what you did, you brought out Dr. Martin!"
Derek admonished.

Lydia playfully slaps him, "I'm a biologist not a pediatrician!"

"So?" Derek responds.

"So, I work in a lab not a hospital!" Lydia explains exasperatedly.

"You just called me sweetie." I whispered feeling a bit of panic.

"Of course I did, I love you, got the rings to prove it and everything." Lydia spoke sincerely gesturing towards her hand where I could see a brief flash of silver and gold before she put it down.

"Hey! What about me!" Derek mockingly outraged.

Lydia rolled her eyes, "We love you too."

"How did I get so lucky as to have to beautiful women marry me, and doctors no less!" Derek sighs.

Lydia giggles as he kisses her cheek and then he turns and does the same to me.

Are Lydia, Derek and I...together?

I try to process the conversation and realize what Derek just said.

"Wait, I'm a doctor?" I ask.

"Sweetheart, we've been over this, just because you went into psychology, doesn't make your doctorate any less real. You need to stop playing it down, your a genius!" Lydia soothed, "Besides, I would never be with someone who couldn't keep up with me." She smirked.

I glanced around the room completely overwhelmed and began to breathe quickly panicking.

"Honey, what's wrong?" Derek asks fearfully.

Not being able to think straight I muttered, "This isn't right I should be at home in bed with Dad in the other room." My eyes dart all around the room and it begins to feel as if the walls are closing in.

"You moved out of your Dad's years ago." Lydia explained.

"Do you think it's the stress?" Derek asked.

As I could feel the anxiety taking over I saw an iridescent ripple out of the corner of my eye. Ignoring Lydia and Derek's concerned question I began to ascend the stairs and walk through the ripple.

When I exited the ripple, I was back in my room sitting on my bed. A girl with electric blue eyes sits next to me. She looks different when she's not covered in blood.

"Who are you?" I ask.

"Does it matter?" She answers.

"Yes." I shot back.

"Well then I suppose I shouldn't answer what you already know."

"What do you mean, how would I know who you are?"

"Do you really need a hint," She asked aggravated then sighs, "when is a door not a door?"

"How does that tell me who you are?"

"When is a door not a door?" She repeats.

"When it's ajar."

"Good, are you ready to play?" She asks.

I don't respond, try to remember my previous dreams. A chess board appears between us.

"You're going to have to play the game to find out more." She prompts.

Whoever she is I have the distinct feeling that it's not something good.

"Fine. Let's play." I answer.

If there's anything I'm good at it's chess, I play to win. A door swings open as I move the white pawn forward.

The girl smirks, "Now we wait for the lightning."

I resist the urge to shiver as I respond, "It's a good thing I can feel a storm coming.", it looks like I have my first clue.

Her electric blue eyes flick back up to mine as she places her black pawn on the board, "Sweet dreams", she whispers.
