Mommy and daddy had spent the whole day cooking, they were making ten servings worth of  spaghetti alla puttanesca for a big dinner they had organized. Oliver was going to leave back to the States soon, so my parents wanted to invite over some people Oliver had met closely while being here, that included: Alessandro, his wife Rebecca, that woman that Oliver seemed to like (now I new she was called Anna) and two other scientists around the age of mommy called Andrea and Valentina. Marzia was also here.

We all sat around the table we had set in the garden while mommy and daddy brought the freshly cooked pasta. I started passing around the wine for everyone (except Marzia and me who drank peach juice) to pour into their glasses and Oliver did the same thing with the basket of little breads. Oliver and Alessandro made some attempts at conversation but no one seem to be in the mood for small talk. The silence was umbearable so I lit a joint and passed it around too, everyone seemed more chill after that. Daddy and mommy finally sat down and we all started to eat ferociusly. Some of the atendants got inmersed in their own conversations, there were many complimets to mommy and daddy about the delicious pasta they had cooked for us.

"I'm going to miss you so much", I overheard Anna tell Oliver, "promise me you'll write at least every week".

"Of course! Can't wait for you to come over on October to visit my city". I couldn't believe it, guess sucking my dick while I sleep means nothing to him, he would rather invite Anna over. Stupid Anna. Once again, I felt like Oliver was a stranger to me.

"Elio are you okay?", Mommy asked me after I flinched at my thoughts. "Don't you like the food? I can make you something else."

"Oh, no mommy, I love your pasta. It's just that I tried to swallow too much and it got stuck in my throat."

"I think you mean in your Oesophagus, Elio," Alessandro said in a paternalistic tone, the adults laughed. I didn't get it.

I fell silent for a second, trying to listen to what Oliver and Anna were talking about, dying of jealousy. Then I realized how silent Marzia had been for the whole evening. I peeked my eyes at her and saw how miserable she looked, she was playing around with the food on her plate. I elbowed her gently and she looked up slowly at me with a frown on her face.

"Yes?" Marzia asked with a tinny head shake.

"What's up?" I said a bit worried.

"Nothing..." she said turning her head down to her plate again. I wasn't going to insist, so I ate the rest of my food while observing how everyone else had conversations. It was time for desserts and I was the one in charge of handing them around one by one. Then I sat down again and turned my ear towards Oliver and Anna, who were conversating privately.

"So did you guys spend a lot of time together?" She said hugging his right arm with her hands, her body leaned towards him. Oliver stared up at me delicately.

"Not as much as I would have liked," and she kissed my man on the cheek. My face burned and my eyes started to water. I had to leave before I caused a scene, so I stood up violently and crossed my house to the front porch. My throat couldn't swallow as it ached and I couldn't breathe properly anymore, but I held myself together. I heard someone walking towards me, I hoped it would be Oliver, but it wasn't. Marzia appeared, she still looked moody.

"What's up?" she asked.

"We have to break up" I spat at her. She looked at me with wide eyes and sighed, then looked away with disbelief. Then she made a big scene and the dinner party was over.
