It had been a rough morning. I woke up late, with a dry mouth and a piercing headache. I skipped breakfast for two reasons: the sight of food made me want to throw up, but also because I wouldn't have time to go with mommy and daddy to the trainstation with Oliver. He was leaving today. We got to the train station at 10:47, his train was leaving at 11:00.

"Thanks for having me this summer," Oliver said hoarsley. "You were incredibly helpful."

"Oh, Oliver, you've been such a nice guest," mommy assured him. "The pleasure is ours."

"Yeah, I think you've become our favourite guest so far, come back anytime," said daddy to Oliver, then he winked at him. "You have our number and our adress, right?"

"Yes, of course," Oliver patted the left pocket on his jacket.

"Well, I guess that's it then," mommy told him, while they exchanged two kisses on the cheek. "Hope you have a nice trip home."

"You'll be missed," daddy shook his hand. Then Oliver turned to me and stretched out his arm, I shook his hand too, trying to memorize the texture of his rough skin, I wanted to be able to remember it when he's gone. This was the last time I was going to be able to touch him. Water started collecting in my eyes and my face felt warm.

"See you later, Elio." He let go of my hand, picked up his luggage and walked towards the train door. As he climbed it, he turned towards us for a moment and smiled at me. The steam engine whistled. That's the last image I have of him, then he dissapeared forever. I started sobbing. My heart was broken. Soon the doors started to close and the train started moving slowly away from me. I felt daddy's arm around my shoulder.

"Let's go home, Elio."
