I had spent the rest of the day sleeping, but finally walked down to the living room at around 8 in the evening, if I stayed up in my room by myself for longer I would have gone crazy. Walking down the stairs I started smelling burnt wood and smoke. I entered the living room to the siluette of my father sitting on the couch in front of the fire place, looking into the roaring flames.

"Come here Elio, I want to speak with you." I sat on his lap. Soon the mesmerizing inferno captured my gaze, daddy wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his forehead on my shoulder. "I want you to know how sorry I am... to see you so heartbroken... this is all my fault." He placed his lips on my shoulder, then he continued talking. "I also want you to know that the way you feel is okay, I understand you and you're not alone."

We sat there together in silence for at least an hour, watching the heat engulf the firewood, turning it dark. I was sobbing violently but daddy didn't judge me. Oliver had left a hole in my heart that was so big that I thought nothing could fill it again. I didn't know if I would ever be able to stop crying.
