if I fell in love with you
because of the words
—you never said

because of the stories
—inside your head

because of the mask
—you always wore
Sometimes I wonder
if I fell in love with you
because of the battles
—and not the war
Sometimes I wonder
if I fell in love with you
because your quiet solitude
—made me take the fall
Sometimes I wonder
if I fell in love with you
or if I never really knew
—who you were at all
I fell in love with you,
but I'd never felt so alone
because it wasn't actually you
it was the things you'd never shown.
