When Lana got home it was about 7:00 PM. She knew her parents would be home in about another thirty minutes. She walked in through the front, took off her shoes, slowly walked upstairs to her bedroom, walked through the doorway of her room, walked over to her bed, and flopped down on her bed. She was staring up at her ceiling, thinking about what had happened earlier. A few moments later, her phone started ringing. It was her mom. She sat up and answered the call.

"Hello."

"LANA, where are you? And who are you with? I thought you said you were staying home today. What happened to that, huh?"

"Mommy, I'm at home now. But I went to Dave & Buster's with a friend."

"Who? I ain't never met none of your friends."

"This girl named Casey."

"Why I ain't never met her?"

Lana knew that her mother was angry. She didn't want to anger her even more by telling her that she had just met this girl. "Hello?" Lana's mother said with a hostile tone, knocking Lana out of her thoughts.

"I don't know. I had known her from school and she was always nice to me. She asked me if I wanted to go to Dave & Buster's with her."

There was a pause from her mother. After a few seconds she had heard her mom sigh.

"Lana, I just want you to stay safe. And when you texted me saying that you were going out, but didn't tell me where you were going I got worried because earlier you said that you were staying home."

"Mom, I'm fine. And I'm safe at home now, so there's nothing you need to worry about."

"I just want you to be safe, Lana. It'll take me and your dad a while to get home today. We have to go grocery shopping. Okay?"

"Yeah, okay."

"Alright, I'll talk to you later."

"Alright, bye."

"Bye."

Lana set her phone down on her bed. She slouched and brought her hands up to her face and rubbed eyes. A few moments later, she got up from her bed and walked to the bathroom. She slowly walked over to the sink, where she had left her glasses. She looked in the mirror for a few seconds. Then, she took her contacts out and put on her glasses. Afterwards, she walked back to her room, took her shirt and her jeans off, and put on a hoodie and a pair of pajamas. This day, so far, had mentally and physically drained her. Now, she just wanted to be comfortable. After putting on her clothes, she got into bed, opened Twitter, and started scrolling through her timeline. By this time, it was about 7:20 PM. After scrolling for ten minutes and seeing nothing really interesting on Twitter, she set her phone down on her nightstand by her bed, took her glasses off, turned to the other side, and started to drift off to sleep.

At about 8:50 PM Lana was woken up by her mother, who was asking her to help get the groceries out of the trunk of her parents' car. Lana rubbed her eyes, searched her bed for her glasses, lazily got out of bed, put her slides on, walked downstairs, and walked outside to grab two handfuls of grocery bags. She walked back into the house and carried the bags to the kitchen, where she sat them on the floor and began to take items out of the bags and put them away in either the refrigerator or a cabinet. After her dad had brought in the last of the groceries and she had finished putting them all away, Lana went back upstairs and crawled back into bed. Lana picked up her phone from her nightstand. When she pressed the Home button her screen turned on, showing her different notifications from Twitter and Instagram. But the one notification that really grabbed her attention was a text message from Casey. Lana saw that Casey had sent it a few minutes before she had got upstairs. She unlocked her phone, opened iMessage, pressed the box with Casey's icon and the new message from Casey, and started reading the message that Casey had sent her.

"r u okay... u kinda ran out on me and Jade..."

"Yeah, I'm fine now..."

After Lana sent the text, she had seen that Casey read it, but didn't respond back as quick as usual. So, Lana opened Twitter while she waited for Casey to respond. It took Casey about a minute or two to respond.

"I should've told u that Jade was coming..."

Lana got a little nervous. "Why would she say that? Does she know that I left because I felt uncomfortable," Lana questioned herself.

"It's fine. Why wouldn't u bring ur best friend with u ???"

"No it's not fine... I should've told u. U probably felt left out... I should've thought about that before inviting her..."

"No really it's fine... I understand, u barely even know me... why would u wanna be alone with someone u just met, right..."

Again, Lana had seen that Casey had read the text, but didn't respond back as quickly. Lana went back onto Twitter and did some more scrolling. Casey responded a few minutes later.

"Just so u know there's nothing going on between me and Jade..."

          Lana had gotten nervous again.

"Why would u think that I thought that u guys had a thing going on ???"

"I just don't wanna give u any wrong ideas about me... but trust me there is nothing going on between me and Jade"

Lana felt relieved by this news. After a few seconds, Lana had noticed that Casey texted her again.

"Do u wanna go out again... with no surprise guests this time..."

Lana's heart started racing. She was ecstatic. She smiled so hard, showing both rows of teeth with her shiny silver braces and her deep, but uneven dimples. But she calmed herself down enough to respond to Casey's text.

"Sure. When and where ???"

"Idk... maybe the movies or something. I don't have work tomorrow so maybe we could catch a movie at about 5"

"I'll be there"

"Okay, it's a date then"

Lana stared at what Casey had sent her. "Okay, it's a date then." Lana's heart rate started to speed up again. Lana was about to get excited, but then she thought for a second. "People say it's a date all the time when they really don't mean it's an actual date. Stop blowing things out of proportion," she thought to herself. Thinking this kind of discouraged her. But it didn't discourage her enough to respond back, sending the final text of the conversation.

"Yep, it's a date."

At this time, it was about 9:30 PM. Lana was so excited for tomorrow. She couldn't wait to go to the movies with this girl that she had just met yesterday. But Lana was as interested in Casey just as much as Casey said that she was interested in Lana. Lana wanted to know more about Casey just like Casey said she wanted to know more about Lana. Lana had never had someone seem so interested in her. She had never felt wanted like this before. But she didn't understand why Casey was so interested in her of all people. Lana thought about all of these things. But, for now, she was done thinking for the night. She was still a little tired from earlier. So, she plugged her charger into the wall with her phone attached, sat her phone on the floor, took her glasses off, set them on her nightstand, turned over to the other side, and drifted off to sleep for the night.
