It was about 6:30 AM. The sunlight shined brightly through Lana's window, which is what woke her up. Lana was in bed, searching for her glasses. The light shining through her window blinded her, so she got up and closed her curtains all the way, dimming the light a little. She got back in bed. Lana didn't feel well. She was having crippling stomach pain and felt like her head was about to explode. She saw her mom walk past the room. "Hey bab- what's wrong," her mom said concerned. "Nothing, I'm just not feeling well today. I think I'm gonna stay in bed for the rest of the day," Lana said through the pain. "Well, do you need anything," her mom asked. "Yeah, can you bring me some pain medicine and can you make me some tea before you go to work," Lana asked sweetly. "Yeah baby, no problem," her mother responds. A few seconds later Lana hears a bottle of pills being opened. She sees her mother walk down the stairs. She gets a really bad cramp in her stomach, leading her to clench her jaw, but that led her to worsen her headache. She sees her mother come back up the stairs with a glass of water. Her mother enters the room with the glass and two white capsules. "I'll go bring you some tea and a Poptart," her mom said dearly. "Thank you, Mommy," Lana says back. Lana's mother walked out of her room and back down the stairs. Lana drunk a little bit of the water, popped both pills into her mouth, and drunk some more of the water.

After a few minutes, Lana's mother came walking back up the stairs and back into Lana's room. She had a steaming mug with a rag around the handle and a silver package with two Poptarts in it. She set the mug and the package on Lana's nightstand. "Alright, now I have to start going to work, okay. Feel better," says Lana mom. "Okay, thanks," Lana says. Lana's mother leaves her room for the last time. It was about 6:45 AM when Lana heard the front door open and close, indicating that her parent had left the house. Lana was home alone. She was in pain. But she didn't know why.

She looked over at her nightstand. She tried sitting up against her headboard so she could drink some of her tea before it gets too cold. She dug her fists into her mattress trying to lift herself up without hurting her stomach, but it wasn't good enough. As she lifted herself against her headboard, her abdomen cramped up, making her grunt in pain, which made her head hurt even more. Finally, she was sitting with her back against her headboard and her legs still under the covers. She grabbed the mug from her nightstand and took a few sips of the hot liquid. She set the mug back on her nightstand and picked up the package of Poptarts. She attempted to open the package, but had to stop because the crinkling was making her headache even worse. She just slithered back down underneath her cover.

The medicine took about 30 minutes to kick in. The pain from her headache and her stomach started to lessen, but there was still pain. Lana got up from her bed, walked over to the doorknob where her dry towel was hanging, and walked into bathroom. She walked over to the toilet, put the lid down, and set her towel on top of it. She walked over to the bathtub to turn the shower on. After turning the shower on, she walked over to the mirror. She saw that she looked more pale than usual. She didn't know what was wrong with her. She rubbed her eyes underneath her glasses. She took off her glasses and put them next to her towel on the toilet lid. She took off her pajamas and got in the shower.

After about 45 minutes, Lana got out of the shower, dried off with her towel, and walked back into her room. She walked over to her closet and pulled a pair of gray sweatpants from the shelf and a plain dark blue hoodie from one of the hangers. She put on her deodorant, her undergarments, and her clothes. She put on a pair of black ankle socks from one of her drawers from her nightstand. She sat on her bed for a few seconds. Then, she noticed that her phone was still charging on the floor. She got off her bed, walked over to her phone and unplugged it. After she unplugged it, her Lock Screen popped up. She noticed that she had received a text from Casey. She didn't read it. She put her phone in her pocket, grabbed her cover from off of her bed, walked out of her room, and walked downstairs into the living room. She sat on the couch and turned the TV on. She turned on a recording of Steven Universe. It was her favorite episode. "Last One Out of Beach City." There was a commercial that played before the episode started that Lana could've fast forward through, but she didn't. Instead, she took her phone out of her pocket and looked at the text message from Casey. She read it this time.

"Hey... I'm sooooo sorry about earlier 😔"

Lana checked what time Casey sent the message. She had sent it yesterday at about 8:30 PM. Lana didn't want to respond. But she ended up texting back.

"It's fine. Don't worry about it..."

Lana figures that Casey might be at work, so it would take her a while to text back. Lana locked her phone and put it back in her pocket. About five minutes later Lana heard her phone bing. Lana got a little frustrated because it interrupted her show. She took her phone back out of her pocket. It was Casey.

"No it's not fine... I told u that I wanna get to know u and it seems like I don't"

Lana looked up from her phone. She thought for a few seconds. She responded.

"No it's fine... ur best friend needed u. If I was in ur position I would've done the same thing"

"... she didn't really need me... she only called me over to her house to talk about someone she doesn't like... idk why she did that becuz I told her I was going out with u..."

Lana thought for a second. She had no response to the message that Casey sent her. But she responded anyways.

"Well it's still ur best friend... and I'm just some random girl why would u wanna be with me instead of ur own best friend ???"

"Becuz ur cute 😉"

When she saw what Casey had said, Lana's heart skipped a beat. All of a sudden, Lana's pain seemed to have went away. The only thing she felt was butterflies in her stomach. She started to blush while smiling at her phone. She didn't know what to say. She was flattered.

"Thanks ☺️ ur so kind"

"No prob 😉 but I still feel bad for ditching u at the movies yesterday. If I would've known she wanted me to come over for that reason i would've stayed... sorry 😔🥺"

"Like I said, it's okay 👌🏽"

"Okay... are u doing anything today ???"

"Probably just staying home... I don't feel well today 🤮🤒"

"Ew well stay away from me 😂😂😂"

"SHUT UP 😂😂😂"

"Im serious 😂 nah jk but let me know when u get better... I wanna try to take u out again... u seem like a nice girl 😊"

"☺️ alright I'll let u know"

"Okay... well I gotta get back to work so I'll talk to u later 😙"

"Okay then peace ✌️"

Lana chuckled at the Casey's emoji in her last text. Lana noticed that the TV was quiet. The episode was over. She grabbed the remote and started the episode back over. She put her phone back in her pocket. Lana noticed something else. All the pain in her head and her stomach was gone. Well, almost gone. She felt better. She started watching the TV again. She wanted to focus on the show, but she could only think about one thing.

She called me 'cute'...
