That night Cor dreamed peacefully. He walked in through the stable doors, letting light shine in. He walked over to Apple's stall, who greeted him and him her. He stroked her nose for a while, rested his forehead against hers, feeling at peace. Then he was in the open fields, on her back, his hands tangled in her hair, and she was running. Not fleeing or sprinting, but just enjoying being out in the open, able to run around as much as she wanted. And they both loved it. Cor laughed from the exhilaration and Apple threw back her head and made a joyous sound in answer. They were free, running with the wind in their faces and not a care in the world.

In his sleep, Cor smiled.
