Interrupted

Friday for all you Rosepop shippers.

I watched Steve pace back and forth, I told him I'm hanging out with a guy but I wouldn't tell him until he got here.

"Steve, calm down." I said.

"No. If he hurts you, he dies. If he forces you to do anything, I snap his neck. If he likes you for only your body, his head will be on my wall!" Steve said.

I heard a knock and I ran to the door before Steve and stood in front of it before opening it. "Breathe...don't freak out, it's a hang out..." I said, ready to run if Steve gets mad that I'm hanging out with his best friend.

"What did you do?" He asked, slightly catching on. I took a deep breath and opened the door to reveal Sodapop, he looked up and nervously smiled.

"Hey, Steve." Soda said, we were both nervous. Who wouldn't? Your best friend is hanging out with your sister, how would you feel?

"Hey, Soda." Steve smiled bright as he greeted his best friend. "You and Rose hanging out?"

"Um. Yeah." Soda answered.

"Have fun! Rose, if you stay the night at his house, sleep on the couch. I will make sure Darry knows that too." Steve laid down the rules.

"Soda, that was awesome! Thanks for taking me." I thanked Sodapop, walking side by side.

"I'm glad you went with me. Actually, Rose." Soda stopped in his tracks, I turned around and looked at him. "I wanted to tell you something." He admitted.

"Yeah?" I asked him, mentally hoping I don't forget my 'speech' that I said to my reflection in the mirror for an hour.

Flashback

"One more time, Rose." I said to myself and looked at my reflection. "Soda, remember when I said I love someone else? He nods... Well, that person is you. I know it's weird but-"

"Rose! Come here! I wanna talk!" Steve called before I turned off the bathroom light and headed out.

End Flashback

"I really like you." I thought I heard Soda say. I chuckled a little at my own thoughts.

"Sorry, what I heard was really funny." I said awkwardly. Soda looked down at the ground and started walking home. "Soda, where are you going?" I asked.

"Home..." He answered.

"Soda." I called after him again. He turned around with a pained face. "You ok?"

"I was stupid to think the girl I loved, loved me back." He said, I'm guessing he was talking about Sandy.

"Sandy isn't right for you..." I walked closer to him. "Soda...can I tell you something?" I asked.

"Sure." He said, looking up at me with those blue eyes. I looked at him and before I could say anything or Soda could react, someone stabbed me in the back and covered my mouth.
