Ginny found Hermione in the same broom cupboard as she was in when she kissed Draco. "Hey Ginny," Hermione said in a bored tone. "What's up?" Hermione asked. Ginny completely and totally lost it. "What's up is that you kissed my boyfriend!" She shouted at Hermione. "Your boyfriend? I didn't know you had a boyfriend," she said, "who is he?" She asked. "Draco Malfoy! Ugh, why am I even telling you this? " Ginny asked rhetorically. "Ginny, listen very closely to what I'm about to tell you. Draco. Is. Mine," Hermione said forcefully. "He doesn't belong to anybody. Besides, it's his choice of who he loves, and he loves me," Ginny responded angrily. "I don't believe you," Hermione said simply. "Well believe it. It's not up to you to decide who Draco loves or who I choose to go out with," Ginny said harshly, storming out of the broom cupboard. When Ginny reentered the great hall, she was met with glares from every single Gryffindor student, including Harry and Ron. She hung her head and went over to sit with Draco. "Draco, can I stay with you tonight in the Slytherin common room?" She asked Draco in a barely audible whisper. "Sure," he answered just as quietly, "you can stay with me there as long as you need to," he added.
"Where's Ginny? She should have been here ages ago!" Ron said later that night. "Ohoho, if she's with Draco, I'm gonna kill her!" Hermione muttered darkly. "Well if she is, at least she has someone!" Harry retorted angrily. "And what is that supposed to mean?!" Hermione asked angrily. "Hermione, please calm down. I'm not -." Ron started before Hermione abruptly cut him off. "No Ronald, I will not calm down! Ginny stole him from me, and I'm going to get him back no matter what!" She shouted. "So help me God, if you hurt Ginny's feelings, I will make sure that you regret it," Ron said angrily. "What makes you think that I am going to listen to you?" Hermione responded angrily. "Because I'm not going to let my sister's life be ruined by one of my best friends!" He replied. Hermione stood up and left the common room without another word. She was determined to make Ginny feel alone.
One week later, Ginny went to talk to Ron. "Ron, do you have any idea what's happening?" She asked him. "What do you mean? There's like a hundred things happening in my life," he replied. "The only people who talk to me anymore are you, Harry, and Draco," Ginny told him. "Oh, that. Well, I'm not certain, but I have an idea. I think that Hermione wants you to feel alone," Ron said. "Let me guess, she's jealous that I'm dating Draco?" Ginny asked. "Yep," was all Ron said in response. "Well, she's not going to take everyone from me. I will get the rest of my friends back," she said, and she left to find Ron's girlfriend, Scarletta.
She found Scarletta in the library and cautiously approached her. "What do you want, Ginevra?" Scarletta asked her in annoyance. Well this has started badly, Ginny thought to herself. "I want to clarify something," Ginny told Scarletta. "Why would I listen to you after what you did?" She asked. "What did Hermione tell you about me?" Ginny asked. "That you were a liar, and that you had gone out with four different guys in the last year, including Draco Malfoy," Scarletta replied. "The second part is true. I only broke up with Michael Corner because we weren't right for each other, same with Dean Thomas. I only broke up with Harry because I caught him kissing Pansy Parkinson. Draco and I, though, we have a lot in common," Ginny explained. "I'm still good friends with Michael, Dean, and Harry, though," she added. Scarletta said nothing, instead opting to glare at Ginny. "Come on Scarletta. We've been friends for five years already, you know that I'm not a liar," she said. Scarletta sighed deeply. "You're right. I was a fool to believe Hermione," she finally said. "Don't worry, I'll help your friends see sense. I know everything that Hermione told your friends, and I'm positive that a lot of them are unsure who to believe," Scarletta said. "Thank you, Scarletta. This is a big help for me," Ginny said. "It's my pleasure, Ginny. I'll see you soon," she replied.
Ginny felt confident that she could keep Hermione from ruining her life. She had no idea what was to come.
