Finally an update! (I know that's what you're all thinking) So, I'll leave the babbling for the end of this chapter, it's pretty important.
Chapter 6: The Growing Animosity
It was only around nine when Rein pulled up to my parents' house. I was so eager to get out of the car and away from the heavy tension that if the car wasn't on its safety lock, I probably would've went flying out before he even parked.
I looked back at Rein with annoyance evident on my features. He was gazing at me with his usual blank stare, although there was the slight indication of a frown on his forehead. He was freed of the red stained blazer and over shirt, and instead had on a white sleeveless shirt. However his pants were still stained. I mentally smiled at my work of rage. It came out as an accidental success.
"You're rushing to get out of the car for what reason," he asked confusedly.
"To get away from you. What other reason would I have," I rudely replied.
His eyes briefly roamed my figure before settling back onto my face. He shrugged and leaned back against his seat. "Harmony, can you for once act your age," he asked irritatedly.
"I act as I please. Your opinion about me doesn't matter," I said indignantly.
"You don't know how to act like a 26 year-old woman, and I honestly believe that has something to do with you living with... them," his eyes briefly gestured to the mansion.
I ignored him and turned to open the car door. Unfortunately, I found that I was incapable of doing so.
"Unlock the door," I demanded.
"Why can't you be this brave around your parents," he questioned as he reclined his seat back.
I disregarded his query. "Open this damn door, Mr. Sanders!"
He shook his head. "No."
I was so irritated at this point. I couldn't stand to be near him. If he doesn't let me out of this car in 2.5 seconds, I was going to strangle him.
I deeply inhaled to meditate my expanding anger. "I will ask nicely... please let me out, Mr. Sanders," I said calmly, staring at the hedge that surrounded the estate.
"I just want to get to the bottom--"
I slapped him, glad that I accomplished it this time.
"Stoppen sie verdammt," he shouted, now red in the face.
I wasn't entirely sure what he said, but I was certain that he told me to stop. "Let me out of the car and you won't have to deal with me," I suggested.
With no hesitance, he unlocked the car. I rushed out of the car and headed to the front door. I was no longer concerned with my phone in his possession. I knew that if I continued arguing with him, I might just end up choking this man.
I opened the door and hurriedly stepped into the house, locking the door behind me.
"Harmony," my mother's voice held me in place. "How was your evening with Mr. Sanders," she asked, her heels clacking.against the marbled finish of the floor.
"It was fine, mother. I had a great time with him," I lied, boldly. "We went to an Italian restaurant in Miami," I added for good measure.
"Is that so? Well, I'm happy you two are getting along wonderfully," she commented. "Quite soon, you will share his last name," she continued slyly. I cringed at this.
"Yeah," I said shyly. "I'm going to go take a shower," I stated, hoping it will end this unpleasant conversation.
She hadn't said anything in reply to that, but she did continue to stare at me knowingly. I took this as an okay to go upstairs.
