The sun was filtering through Tom's blinds, causing him to grumble angrily and turn over. He blearily opened his eyes, not exactly wanting to wake up. He let out a soft sigh and grabbed his phone, ready to just play some stupid mobile games until he woke up. It was late in the afternoon; Tom had been at the bar all night, so it was only natural that he slept in. It was disappointing, of course; Tom would have to get back into the habit of sleeping normally. Whatever.

When he clicked on the home button, there was a single notification on "Calendar". He furrowed his eyebrows in slight confusion.

Why would he have a notification for an app he never used?

Then, his mind clicked.

It was his birthday.

Immediately, Tom shot up into a sitting position, all hopes of having a calm morning running down the drain. He pushed his blankets out of the way and scrambled toward his dresser. He always got super excited for his birthday — it was an excuse to make people spend time together whilst not sitting on the couch and watching television like they usually did. He pulled out a random shirt and his blue sweatshirt, slipping both of them on as he tried to calm himself down. He quickly changed into some jeans before rushing to his door.

Taking in a deep breath, he forced his grin down into a soft smile. He hated looking too eager.

Then, he swung the door open and calmly walked down into the living room.

Both Edd and Matt were relaxing on the couch. Matt's legs were swung over Edd's, the brunet on his phone.

"Good morning, guys," he said, giving them a slight wave.

Matt, whom had been gawking at his looks, spared Tom no look or glance, rather humming a chirped 'hello!' before completely losing interest in him and went back to try fix his hair for his instagram picture.

The Norwegian raised a brow before turning back to the fridge, an unsatisfied look on his face as he scavenged their plain and messy fridge for anything edible. He mumbled a small 'morning' as he reached in and pulled out an apple, sighing as he decided it'd be better than having to wait for the bacon to defrost, get the pan ready and cook it, only for Edd to thief it for himself and him having to clean the pan. Tord wandered into the living room as well, pulling out his phone as he stood behind the couch, supposedly reading something.

"You seem like you're in a good mood today," Edd said, giving Tom a quick glance. "Something important happen?" he asked before returning to his phone.

For a split moment, Tom's face fell. He quickly recovered, however, returning to a soft smile. "Nothing in particular," he said, voice slightly shaky. He quickly covered it with a cough. "I think I might be catching something, though." His voice had already gone back to normal. He didn't want to make a big deal about it; it was just his birthday, after all. There was no reason for them to care.

He moved to sit on the arm rest of the couch, pulling out his phone and letting his smile disappear, returning to a neutral expression.

Tord had pulled his eyes away from his phone once he heard Tom's subtly trembling voice, looking up at him. Obviously the Norse picked up on things like these quite quickly, listening to people was key to understanding them and how to manipulate them, though, he had never quite heard Tom's voice tremble much. After all, the joyful and chirp-like tone of Tom's words before were awfully strange to hear for someone as neutral as him; it must have been something he had been really excited about.
