As the boat gathered speed the two scientists who had clinged onto the boat but had found themselves clinged onto by the human carnivores eventually let go of the boat, they couldn't bear the pain anymore of teeth sinking into their arms.

Mobutu Seko then looked with a Stern look at Dr Mbezi and with what appeared to be a smile he said......"I guess the serum is ready?" In what appeared to be a show of disgust Dr Mbezi snorted "you are a mad man!!!! You have no idea what you've done here and today. Many have died because of your selfish dillusions on human trials towards a grand army, and I was a fool to play along!!!!!!

No sooner had Dr Mbezi said this did herds of hippo's quickly appear in the distance in the more shallow waters, the driver shouted out for everyone to hang onto some thing, but before he could slow down the boat, the boat had hit an alpha hippo and the boat went flying mid way through the air as one of the assistant doctor's was thrown overboard.

The African Hippo

The doctor was thrown backwards right into the middle of the herd of hippo's basking in the water. One hippo moved towards him as if happy to catch the culprit responsible for splitting open the back of their leader who's carcus now lay floating a few metres behind. It descended on him with the strength of a 100 men and with one bite, an arm was seen sliced in two, more hippo's moved in and each of them with one bite on him pulled off a piece of the man, off went a leg, an arm, and the head until the hippo's could now be seen basking in water that had been turned into red crimson.

Mobutu only smirked, "such talent gone to waste, by the way Dr you called me "mad" hahahaha but your own curiosity to what lay on the other side of this research got the better of you to abuse your own ethics-no one held a gun to your head, this was your own weakness, nothing of my doing, but either way thanks for the complement. Madness is but a rare trait few ever acquire, it took sheer madness for the wright brothers to believe man could one day fly, it took brute madness for Thomas Edison to believe every home could be powered by light at night, it took rare madness for Adolf Hitler to believe he could wipe the Jews off the face of the Earth.

With a sorrowful face over the loss of his assistant Dr Mbezi said "Sorry to cut you there Mobutu the first two achieved their goals the 3rd didn't. Goals given to human destruction tend to fail just as yours will too. My dear friend Dr. Mbesu I wish your death was more peaceful.

But listen Mobutu, we managed to separate the energetic effects from the lethargic effects. The energy levels as you saw of anyone exposed to this virus go through the roof as if they are running on Nitros, this is the First stage called "Zoomonisis" alternatively we call them in this state as "Zooms", but even Nitros must run out, so they get dehydrated quickly as seen by the tongue hanging out and heavy panting like a dog thirsty for water, and unfortunately that dehydration eventually leads to the very lethargic effects to creep in, this is the Second Stage we call "Zombisis" alternatively we call them in this state as "Zombies". They become sluggishly slow in walking and a zero ounce of intelligence after approximately 1 week.

Mobutu asked, "then we give them water right to address the thirst right and prevent them from losing their minds right?"
Dr Mbezi answered, "For the first time ever I so wish I could agree with you Mobutu, but their stomach lining prefers thick liquids, and blood fits the bill. 'Blood is thicker than water' as the adage goes........Fresh blood acts like some sort of fuel for them to replace that blood which is decomposing in them.

That explains the smell of death that they carry. Their natural desire to feed over-rides their ability to reason. Another thing, ever heard of the spitting cobra Mobutu?"

"You dare insult my intelligence Dr. every one knows about the spitting cobra" Mobutu in anger was now pointing his gun at the Dr.

"See see see, lets be calm now, I just wanted you to know that they're saliva is highly potent of the virus, I wouldn't share a bottle of water, clothes, food, with anyone infected if I were you. It's by far more potent than their blood. If it gets in your mouth, eyes or even skin then you are also now infected." Responded Dr. Mbezi.

The Spitting Cobra

The Spitting Cobra

As the boat was now nearing the river port it was there that they saw a huge swarm of vultures hovering in the air in circles at a distance. As the Dr looked up one of his colleagues asked him, "Doc I have never seen that many vultures hovering in the air, how many animals must need to be dead for that many vultures to be put in the sky."

"My friend", Dr Mbezi uttered..........
"VULTURES PLAY WHERE THE DEAD LAY"
