We maneuver our way through the coward of saddened people until we reached the front. Nash grabs my hand and gives it a squeezes. He looks into my eyes and gives me questioning look. I take a deep breath and nod.
We walk up to the open casket and my heart stops. He looks so cold. He is wearing a tuxedo and his dirty blonde hair in his spiked up style. His tan skin now pale and lips in a straight line.
All the memories of that day came flooding back to my head and tears start to pour out.
I let out a muffed sob and run my hand over his cheek. He's gone.
I kiss his cheek and say, "I love you Michael. Thank you for saving my life." I turn to Nash who is still holding my hand. He give me a sad glance and walks me over to the boards of pictures.
He starts pointing to some of Mike and his friends trying to cheer me up. I'm completely dazed out because if it weren't for me he could still be able to hangout with his friends.
Nash squeezes my hand and I look at him. He points to a whole bunch of pictures of me and Mike as kids. All the good memories come into my head and I smile slightly.
There's pictures of me, Mike and my mom. My dad must have taken the picture. We were in the backyard and I must have been 2 so Mike was 4. She was carrying us both and we were laughing.
"How did you get these photos?" I asked.
"Your Aunt Linda helped me out." He replied smiling. I smile at him and we walk back to the group. Soon the funeral starts and we all take our seats.
The first part of the funeral was rough. It consisted of the Father praying and a bunch of sniffly people. I sat there slightly sobbing with the boys rubbing my back.
A select few of my family members go up and did their speeches. Soon they called me up to do one and the boys gave me worried glances. I wipe up my tears and walk up to the stand.
I look out of the coward of 50 some people that loved Mike dearly. I look to my right to the see the open casket now closed with flowers on it. I let out a deep breath and begin.
"Mike was the kind of brother every person wished they had. He wasn't the type to make fun of me or fight with me. Mike was like my best friend. Ever since my mom died he was always there for me, filling in the shoes for my mom. He would help me with boy problem, friend problems and more. When I was feeling down Mike would know. He would come into my room and hugged me till I felt better."
I wipe up the tears streaming down my face and choke out, "He had so much to live for. He had college all planned out, had amazing friends, he had it all...now it's gone." I sigh and continue.
"He was always there for me, to protect me and keep me from harms way."I let out a shaky breath and look at the casket. "And that's exactly what he did. Thank you, Mike. I love you, so much."
I return to my sit and the father says a couple more words. We all go outside for Mike to buried.
As they lower him into the ground my whole world starts spinning. I clutch on one of the boys who is next to me. They grab me by the waist and pulled me in so my head is on their shoulder.
I start crying even more once he is fully in there, when they covered him with dirt.
The boy who I am clutching on to walks me to the car with the rest of them and we get it.
I didn't let go of the boy so I say next to him the ride home.
Once we start driving I noticed it was Matt I was holding on to. Matt reminds me of Mike somewhat. He acts like him and is protective like a brother.
We finally get home and Matt scoops me up and walks me inside with the other boys trailing behind.
Once we get inside I get passed to Nash and he brings me to my room. He lays me down and starts to walk out of the home.
"Nash?" I choke out. He snaps his head at my, "Yes?" I wipe a tear and speak, "Can you stay with me?"
He quickly nods and lays in bed with me.
He pulls me into his chest and rubs my back telling me everything will be okay. But I can only hope everything will be okay.
