From Best friends to Lovers

CHAPTER 2

He stopped right in front of my house and looked me dead in the eye.

"Sky, I've known you for years. I know when something's wrong. Was it something I did?"

I could see the worry in his eyes and it hurt me that he felt this way but I just couldn't tell him.

"Seriously it's nothing Luke. I'm fine."

"Are you sure? I mean-"

"I said I'm fine."

My outburst came out as a surprise to both him and me. I had never spoken to Luke that way.

"Luke I'm sorry I-"

His expression became unreadable. I couldn't tell what he was thinking or feeling. He just sighed

"Look, it's fine. We've both had a long day. I thinking you just need some rest."

He smiled but it didn't reach his eyes.

"Yeah. Thanks for the ride."

"Anytime."

I got out of the car and booted right to my front door but before i could reach it Luke called.

"Hey Sky!"

I stayed with back turned.

"Yeah?"

"See you tomorrow."

"Yeah...see you tomorrow."

I got in as fast as I could. I closed door  with such force you could feel the ground vibrating.
I sank into the floor heart hammering in my chest.
I got up to the window to see if Luke was still there. Luckily he was gone.

I dragged myself to the bathroom and got in the shower.

I turned the faucet on and tried to clear my thoughts. My attempts failed, my thoughts would always drift back to Luke.

I got out of the shower and changed into my pajamas.

After getting into something more comfortable I decide to watch a movie since my mom wasn't around.

I made some popcorn and chose to watch a horror movie. After choosing the right movie I went to take my popcorn and sat on the couch to watch the movie.

About an hour and a half later the movie was finished. It was 10pm now so I decided to go sleep.

I went to my room and laid down on the bed and just stared at the ceiling for a solid 30 minutes until I got up and decided to text Anna to see if she was still up.

I tried texting Anna and Jenny. Both  of them didn't respond. So they were either sleeping or ignoring me. Either way I knew I had no other person to talk to except Luke so I decided to text him.

Hey.

A few seconds later I got a text.

Hey. What are you doing still up at this time?

That was quick.

Couldn't sleep. You?

Same here. Can I call you?

I froze. Why would he want to call? Is something wrong?

Sure.

Right after that text was sent my phone started ringing. I hesitated. Sure I said he could call but now that he actually is...I'm just nervous.

After a few rings I finally decided to pick it up. 

"Hello?"

"Hey."

His voice sent a shiver up my spine.
It was groggy so you could tell he was tired, but in a way it still sounded...soothing.

"You sound tired."

"I am, but I can't sleep."

"So talking to me will make you fall asleep?"

"Yeah."

"Am I that boring?"

He chuckled and it made my heart flip.

"Not in that way you dork. I mean I called you because I wanted to hear your voice."

My heart felt like it was going to explode.

"I mean it's not the same when you're texting someone, especially not your best friend."

Ouch. Best Friend? I thought he was getting on to something. But I guess I was just getting my hopes up for nothing.
I must have been silent for a long time 'cause then I heard:

"You still there?"

I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Yeah. Still here. I just uhh...saw something's out my window."

"Oh okay. So how's your mom?"

After that change of subject we chatted for a few hours. I yawned, Luke must have heard me because then he said:

"Sleepy now?"

"No...I'm just-"

I yawned again.

Luke chuckled.

"Goodnight Skylar."

"Night Luke."

He hung up. After that I fell asleep with Luke in my mind.

I woke up and checked the time. It was 6:50 am. I had enough of time to get ready for school  and have breakfast.
I got up and went to take a shower. Afterwards I brushed my teeth and did my hair.
I went to my room to get dressed. I went with a simple outfit.

After getting dressed I went downstairs. When I got there I heard some voices coming from the kitchen. One male and one female. The female was definitely my mom. But I couldn't place the male voice. When I got in the kitchen I couldn't believe my eyes.

"Noah?!"
