"Sounds good, I'll see you then," CJ said and quickly made his way out of the classroom. I noticed something still sitting on our lab table. His book.
I grabbed it and hurried out of the room to find him. I looked up and down the hallway for him. He should've stood out, seeing as though he was 5 inches taller than everyone else in the school.
Finally my eyes landed on him. He was standing next to Meghan, who was holding his hand. I let out a sigh, not realizing that I was hugging his book to my chest. "I wouldn't worry too much about it," Kaleb's voice startled me. "He doesn't want her back."
I felt my cheeks get hot for probably the 20th time today. "I'm not worried about it," I said and handed Kaleb the book. "CJ forgot this. You'll see him before I do."
He took the book from my hands.
I looked up at him. For the few days I'd known Kaleb he was always smiling, or laughing. Right now though, his eyes were sad.
"What's wrong?"
"Have you heard from Sam?" he asked and ran his fingers through his jet black hair.
"No. I was talking to her last night for a while, but I haven't talked to her since. She randomly stopped replying." I shrugged, not really thinking anything of it.
Back at my old school the only people that I really talked to didn't message me constantly, so this just seemed normal.
"Can you try to get ahold of her? Just see if she texts you back?" he seemed genuinely worried about her.
"Yeah, definitely. I'll let you know if I hear from her," I said as the warning bell rang. "I'll see you at lunch."
I quickly headed for my next class, hoping Kaleb wouldn't stop me. Why was CJ even giving Meghan any of his time after what she did to him? I sat down in my seat and noticed that Meghan wasn't here yet.
Maybe she was still with CJ. Why do I even care if she's with CJ? I don't know him at all. We aren't even friends.
5 minutes into class Meghan strolls in and sits down next to me. She's wearing the biggest fake smile I'd ever seen.
The only reason I knew it was fake was because her eyes were bloodshot. "What are you looking at?" she hissed at me. I turned my head away from her. CJ must've turned her down.

My last class of the day was math, and the class was taking a test on the information they learned before I moved. The teacher let me take the test, and told me to only answer what I thought I knew.
I knew everything that was there.
I finished the test with 15 minutes left to spare, and decided to waste the rest of class by going to the bathroom. On my way there CJ stopped me. "We're still hanging out tonight right?" he asked with a smile plastered on his face.
"Yeah," I said. "If you're up for it." I was actually really excited to hang out with him. I wanted to get to know him, who he actually was.
3 days ago he really seemed like a bad guy, but now that I've seen his other side, even though it was only brief, I wanted to see it again.
"I'm totally up for it," he said. "Hand me your phone." I rose my eyebrow at him. "So I can give you my number and text you my address."
I handed my phone over, and he started typing away. "There," he said and handed it back. "Now you can message me whenever you want." He winked at me and laughed. Without saying anything else he continued on his way down the hall. I couldn't stop watching him as he left.
