When I woke up the next morning Meghan's body was draped over mine. I sighed, knowing that this was a mistake. I should've left last night after she fell asleep, but just feeling her arms around me again was enough to pull me back in. "Stupid," I muttered under my breath. "You're so fucking stupid." I hit my forehead with the palm of my hand.

I reached towards the night stand that my phone was sitting on. Meghan mumbled and tightened her grip around me. Finally, I got my phone and texted Kaleb.

Me: Can you pick me up from Meghan's?

When he didn't respond back right away I got nervous. I didn't really want to walk home, but my only other option was letting Meghan take me to school.

Walking it is.

Slowly, I maneuvered myself out of her arms. She groaned and rolled over. I stayed still for a moment, just to be sure she didn't wake up.

I walked to her bedroom door and turned around before I opened it. Her brown hair covered her face and that was definitely for the best, because if I could see her right now I wouldn't do what I was about to do.

There was a piece of blank paper on her desk and a pen next to it.

Meghan, I can't do this anymore. I won't keep running to your rescue after what you did to me. And I won't apologize for that.

I placed it on the floor in front of the door and quietly left the room.

Kaleb: I'll be there in 2.

Thank God.

I walked outside. The cool air felt nice on my face. Kind of like I'd been stuck in a sauna for the last hour. Luckily there was still an hour until school started, meaning I could go home and shower.

Kaleb pulled up next to me and I hopped in his car. The heat was blasting at my face, so I quickly turned it off. His black hair was going in all different directions, and he was still in his pajamas. "Did I wake you up?" I asked, and he nodded with a yawn.

"I was expecting you to text me this morning though. Gabi told us what happened. So I left my volume on because I didn't want to just leave you there," he said with a shrug.

I don't know why I let Gabi convince me to do that." I hit my head again. Maybe the more I hit myself the more I'll forget about her.

"Because you're a good guy." I groaned at his comment.

"That doesn't mean I have to run to the rescue of the girl who broke my heart days before."

"Well, when you put it like that it makes you sound like a superhero. I can see the movie posters now. 'He beats up all the bad guys, and all the ladies love him!' And I'll be the best friend who knows your secret but ends up getting killed because of it." He started laughing.

"Why do you have to die?"

"The movie's gotta be interesting." He shrugged his shoulders.

"There's only one flaw with your movie though. Not all the ladies love me," I said with a sigh. He pulled into my driveway as I pulled my phone out of my pocket.

"Step one: change that picture," he said and snatched my phone out of my hands. My background was still a picture of Meghan and I.

He started scrolling through my photos until he came across a picture of him and I. "There, now all the ladies will know that your heart belongs to me." I laughed at his comment. "Now go in there and make yourself beautiful for me." He demanded and I found myself rolling my eyes at him as I got out of the car.
