Chapter Four

Ashton's POV:

My heart skipped a beat my hero from earlier, he talked to me and smiled at me. Those blue eyes I was in heaven. When Riley spoke breaking me from my school girl crush thoughts. Riley had this disappointed stare.

"Dude that's all you're at, is 'hey'?" she said emphasizing the word 'hey' I looked down at my feet. She continued to talk, even though I wished she hadn't. She was just adding on to how embarrassing I was.

"Plus you didn't even say anything you just made a gesture, what's with that? You like him a lot I can tell." She spoke brutally honest. She was right I have always liked guys, and now I like him, even if that meant pretending I didn't know who he was. Acting like I don't know him, just makes it easier. I would create a whole new chance of me not ever meeting him just to forget, I can't be with anyone. But this morning on the bus we had talked and I couldn't fake not knowing who he was anymore. He moved here two years ago, and I fell for him hard before, but he has no idea I even exist, cliche teenage girl hey? I just like him. His blue eyes, his smile, his everything. 

I never did know his name, but heard so much about him through his friends on my bus last year. They always talked about him.

My dad and I recently just moved over the summer just a block over, but a new bus route, as to why I'm on a new bus, his bus. Awe I just wish we'd talk more, just wish he'd notice me. I mean I did know who he was but on the bus this morning I didn't recognize him until seeing those blue eyes, plus he got a hair cut, last year he had long hair that covered his eyes.

"Ask him to hang out this Saturday." Riley spoke breaking me from my thought concentration.

"Like on a date?" I confusingly asked.

"No dummy like to hang out as friends." Riley said quickly looking at me as though I've never met people or socialized before. Tension had filled the air. I let out a heavy breath as did Riley, and we just stood there for a couple moments. I was unsure and she had realized the way she was treating me.

With this I avoided eye contact and focused on the closet door beside where we were standing. We had a spare so walking around was kind of our thing.

I've observed many things happening during classes in the halls. The worst was discovering a relationship between two teachers. I shook at remembering how I learned that.

Riley wasn't at school one day, last year and I walked down one hallway making a sharp turn to my left, seeing Mrs. Rone and Mr. Beauro, sucking face, and their actions getting very intense. I turned the opposite direction and bolted away.

I heard a faint voice shout "Hello." But I just kept running ignoring it. I was short of breath, but did not care.

I shivered trying to get the horrible memory to leave my mind.

I loved her with all my heart but she was shy with other people and wanted me not to be so she would push me to talk, even though she just couldn't. Hypocritical right. But I understood. And she does understand why I don't talk much either, which is how we became such good mates.

After she and Katie stopped being friends Three and a half years ago we were thirteen, she shut herself away from the world, including me. I was sad. It took her two months before she would talk. That's when I finally found out she had been raped by that disgusting monster, the monster that was once her best friends older brother. I hated him, he took her innocence, he was Katie, Riley's best friend's older brother that did that stuff to her when she and Katie had sleepovers. Katie had told her parents what had happened, at the time Katie and Riley were best friends almost sisters. But Katie's older brother Don had heard Katie tell their parents and he hurt my best friend, worse, telling her to forget everything. He threatened her.
