"I-I'm so sorry!" I stammered, scrambling away from Michael, hands on my cheeks as I stared at him in shame.
Oh my gosh, I did that! I actually hurt him! My own two hands burned him!
"Estella...." Michael cautiously spoke my name and attempted to take a step forward. However, he paused once he saw me flinch away.
"I didn't mean to hurt you. I just didn't want you to take my memories away and all of a sudden I got scared and angry! Then, this energy inside me blew up and I-I did that to you!" My arms waved around as I gestured around me in a way to release all the emotions inside me. "Ugh! I didn't know I could do that!"
"You didn't know you had powers?" He questioned incredulously.
"No, I didn't know I could physically hurt people... hurt you." My chest rose and fell rapidly as I watched him analyze me quietly. I bit my bottom lip nervously when I noticed his burn marks on his skin, the bright red color contrasting vibrantly against his cream colored skin. "What's wrong with me?"
"Nothing! Nothing's wrong with you." Footsteps sounded the room until Michael stood in front of me. Bright blue eyes stared down at my veins, the blue hue within them slowly fading away. His fingers traced over my skin softly, drawing invisible patterns.
"I-I don't know what's happening to me. It all started a couple months ago, when you came into my office, and it hasn't gone away since then." Shaking my head, I hurriedly tried to make sense of the situation as Michael intently listened. "It would just appear whenever I see these shadows-"
"Shadows?" He cocked an eyebrow at my words, tilting his head in wonder.
"Yeah, these shadows would move around sometimes and it would trigger whatever's inside me. I saw them at Murder House and I saw them seeping out of you earlier when you were angry. Then, my arms would start glowing and the shadows would go away, as if they're afraid of me."
"Did these shadows ever hurt you?"
"No, they would circle around me or hover nearby, but they wouldn't actually harm me."
"So, the energy coming off of you would make these shadows go away?" Michael asked softly.
I nodded my head and took a deep breath. "When I was at Murder House, they were trying to chase after you when you ran away. But, I managed to stop them from following you when I slammed my hand against the wall. I just had this instinct to do that and they disappeared."
"What else can you do?"
"I can feel energy... dark energy, the type that makes your blood run cold." Michael's fingers trickled down to my hands and pressed them both against his chest. My mouth fell agape at his actions as my eyes scanned his face.
Michael stared back at me as his bright eyes swirled with emotions that I couldn't decipher.
"Do you feel it? Do you feel the energy" He whispered and moved my hands further down his chest, fingers grasping my wrists gently. I shook my head as my breathing quickened. "Focus. You can do it. Don't think too much into it."
"I-I can't."
"Yes. You can." Michael said and stepped closer to me, closing the gap between us. Warmth radiated from his figure and rolled onto my own. It enclosed me like a shell. "All you have to do is let yourself feel."
Slowly, my eyes fluttered closed as I stopped the doubt and confusion swirling through my racing mind. I began to forget about the worries that clouded my thoughts about not being normal, about not knowing what was happening to me. Instead, I broke down the walls within me and let the energy coming from Michael fill me.
