Hello! RWBY is one of my favorite shows ever, but there are still so many things I wish were handled differently, especially regarding Adam, so I came up with this story :) Hope y'all like it, this is my first one!
So for this chapter, I'm going to give you a better idea of my OC and how faunus labor works in the Schnee Dust Company (SDC).
So the faunus slaves in the SDC are referred to by numbers, not names. My OC has been working there her whole life, so she is known as simply 62 and has no actual name.

What's important is that she has very curly orange hair, but she has really bright yellow eyes. And she is a cat faunus, so she's also got the little ears, colored orange. She also has a scar on the upper-right corner of her forehead, which is usually covered by her crazy hair.
I'm assuming Adam is 23 by the time it's Volume 6, making him 21 in Volumes 1-3 and 22 in Volumes 4-5. 62 is one year younger than Adam, so she's 22 during Volume 6.
Her semblance is called "Quick Freeze" and it allows her to freeze people, objects, and monsters for 10 seconds. However, if she attacks the frozen object within the 10 seconds, it regains motion but is sent flying in the direction of her attack. To activate the Quick Freeze, she has to make physical contact with the object, person, or monster first.
The faunus slaves in the SDC have different jobs, like mining for Dust underground, cooking for the family, serving, etc. If they do not comply or do their jobs at a "satisfactory" level, they get severely punished . . . They are fed poorly and are not allowed to go outside unless they have permission. Human guards keep the faunus from escaping and overseers patrol as the faunus work, "disciplining" them when necessary. The faunus have to wear collars, and the human overseers use a device called the "regulator," which are connected with the collars, and with a press of a button, they electrify the nearest faunus. The collars also weaken the Aura of the faunus and prevent them from using their semblances or from escaping, since the moment they are too far from a regulator, they get painfully electrified. The collars also have tracking devices inside them.
This story will bounce between 62 and Adam's perspectives. To clarify whose POV a passage is, I will start it with <Adam POV> or <62 POV>. If the story is from a different character's perspective, it will follow the same pattern. On that note, if I write <A/N> (Author's Note) then it is just my own notes on that chapter. I will state any time jumps that occur with something like <2 weeks later>.
Another note, I will try to stay true to the storyline of RWBY as much as I can, at least for volumes 1-5. I might add a few tweaks here and there, but I don't want the addition of 62 to change things drastically. The events of volume 6 will change a bit, but that's not gonna be for a while :) :) :)
