<A/N> I really hope you enjoy this story! Leave any comments to tell me what y'all think so far! Don't worry about what "Daurka" is, for now, we'll get to it later!
<62 POV>
"Experiment 62, trial 249. Emphasis: test durability with 10mL injection of Daurka of 5.6 concentration level."
Once that announcement was over, a horde of Altesian Knight-200s enter, some armed with rifles and others with katanas so sharp they seem to pierce the air. The robots surround a female feline faunus with straight, orange hair. There's nowhere to run, nowhere to hide in the warehouse. 62 looks around. She can try to fight past 5 of the AK-200s then go up the stairs behind them. This way at least she'll get an advantage by being above her attackers.
But just her luck, AK-200s appear upstairs, seemingly from nowhere, each equipped with bows and arrows. 62 now really has nowhere to go.
Smirking, 62 looks up to the window. Through it, she sees two men, one sitting down and frantically taking notes, going through paper after paper. The other one was standing with his arms folded behind his back and watching her predicament unfold. Keeping eye contact with the man watching her, she got into her fighting position, rolling both her hands into fists and placing them in front of her. As about 10 - or is it 15? - robots come towards her, with the ones upstairs aiming their arrows at her, 62 can't help but roll her eyes.
'Pointless.'

<10 years ago><Adam POV>
"Adam! Come here, dinner is ready!"
"Coming, ma'am!" answered Adam.
Adam wiped the sweat from his forehead with his wrist as he got up. After a whole day's worth of work, the weeds from the orphanage's garden are finally all removed. The cleaner look of the garden made Adam feel fairly pleased with his efforts - and pretty proud of himself. As he brushed off his hands, a smile appeared on Adam's face. He noticed how the matron would always look at the unruly garden with dejection, and he knew she was too busy to work on it herself. Hopefully, this would make her happier. After all, she's done so much for him.
But pulling out all the weeds left the soil uneven, so he decided that tomorrow he would work on fixing that, and maybe planting some more flowers while he's at it. He looked at the patch with his favorite flowers, the daisies, with their white petals and yellow cores, and thought they would look better with other flower patches next to them.
But what kind of flowers? He'll just have to visit the market tomorrow and see what's available.
But does he have enough money? He can check later, and, if anything, he can help out at the newspaper firm in the morning and earn some extra cash there.
These questions and answers flew through Adam's mind as he sat eating his dinner, some chunks of a boiled potato and a piece of bread. Adam was pretty excited when he saw the entire piece of bread, since he usually had to share half of it with Danny, but he got adopted two weeks ago, so since then Adam got whole pieces for himself. He missed his friend Danny, but the bread was pretty good. Adam was never really fond of potatoes, but he ate them anyway, knowing how hard it must have been for the matron to get the food in the first place.
"Adam, did you really fix the garden like you said you would? Are the bad plants gone?"
At the sound of his name, Adam looked up and saw a 6-year-old child across the table looking back at him with wide, brown eyes. The child was a faunus, just like all the other children at Ms. Trewan's Orphange for the Lost Faunus. This child had indigo gills on his neck, as well as webbed fingers, and so this combined with his clumsiness meant that he usually needed someone to help him eat. Tonight, it was Jade that was helping him, feeding him the potato pieces, her fox tail swinging from side to side.
