<Adam POV>

That night, Adam had a nightmare.

It started off pretty well, actually. In the beginning, he was having breakfast with the other kids and the matron, even Danny was there. Then Ms. Trewan asked Adam to pass the salt. He turned and grabbed the shaker, but as he was about to hand it off, Ms. Trewan was gone. In fact, everyone was gone, leaving behind empty chairs.

When Adam tried to stand up, the floor disappeared, and he started falling . . . and falling . . . and falling. All around him were screams of agony and among them, he distinctly heard a voice - a female voice - desperately yell, "Leave me alone!" Suddenly, Adam started hearing crashing waves, and then the landed in the middle of a vast ocean. He tried to stay afloat as much as he can, but, try as he might, he eventually felt fatigued and the screams were too much for him. The water tugged at him, pulling him deeper and deeper into an abyss. He saw blobs off to the distance. As he got closer, Adam recognized these blobs - they were the other orphans. They looked so . . . so lifeless . . .

A light from the bottom of the sea took Adam by surprise, but he felt attracted to it. He sank more and more until he was able to reach the light. At his touch, it took the form of a large daisy, its brilliantly white petals bringing life to the dark sea around it. But not 10 seconds passed when it started withering away, turning into dust and fading into the ocean, leaving Adam with a sense of emptiness.

'Come back . . .'

Then, Adam somehow found himself back in the dining room of the orphanage, but one thing was off - everything was on fire. Everything Adam has ever really known. Gone. Adam started hearing gunshots, gradually getting closer and closer. He then felt a sharp pain in his chest coming from behind and, next thing he knew, he was sitting up, sweating profusely, breathing heavily.

<Ms. Trewan POV>

Tomorrow, Ms. Trewan's dream was going to become a reality.

She was going to become a millionaire.

And finally be able to afford to go send her son to medical school . . . with plenty of cash left over. She can travel the world, buy her family whatever they'd like, anything. 'I'll finally be able to do something with my life. Something I can enjoy. Something that will bring honor to my family,' thought the matron, already getting excited at the very idea. She continued walking past the dark streets, on her way to the address her buyer specified for their meeting place.

"Should be somewhere around here . . ." she said to herself, turning her head to the right. "1226 Walcott Dr . . . Let's see . . ." She took a couple more steps ahead. "1220 . . . 1222 . . . 1224 . . then aha! 1226!"

Ms. Trewan found herself in front of a door barely hanging by its hinges. The paint on the walls was chapped, and the windows looked like they haven't been cleaned since before the moon broke into pieces.

'Are these really the people who offered me a five-figure amount?' the woman couldn't help but wonder.

As she reached her hand to knock (she assumed the bell wouldn't work), the door opened, revealing a man wearing a long black coat, with the collars up. He also had a dark brown fedora on his head, pointed down, covering the top of his face. On his left hand, he was holding a briefcase.

"Why do you people always dress so mysteriously?" Ms. Trewan asked as she entered the house and passed by the man, taking off her scarf. "I know who you are and you know who I am. I know what you want and -" she turned around to take a look at the briefcase - "you know what I want."
