Zoey’s POV
I woke up in Jessica’s bedroom, surrounded by flowers that weren’t there when I went to sleep. I leaned over to read the tag on one of them, and it read “From your husband, after today. Here’s to the rest of our lives.” I sighed and got up. I was dreading this day, I still wanted Jimmy. But I kept remembering how much Riley loved me, so I’d rather put these Jimmy feelings to the side. I was getting married for godsake. We all decided Jessica’s house would be the best place to get ready. Her and JC had a mansion here in Staten Island, and it was a nice little place to gather my family. I had no idea where Riley was and I wasn’t supposed to. I was getting excited. After I showered, I walked downstairs and it was complete madness.
“There she is!” Bridget smiled. Everyone looked at me and started cheering. “Ready to start the best day of your life?”
I nodded. “Ready whenever you all are. Thanks so much for being here everyone.”
All my friends and family were here, the make-up people were here, everyone. I sat in a chair they made for me, it was sort of like a throne. The make-up artists began doing my face, Jessica began doing my hair, and before I knew it, it was 11am and I was ready to put my dress on. Jessica and Bridget grabbed the dress from the closet and we walked upstairs into her room. Jessica laid it on the bed and helped me undress, without messing up my makeup or hair, while Bridget took the dress out of the cleaner’s bag.
“You ready?” Bridget smiled, holding the dress in front of me. I shrugged and stepped into it. Jess zipped it up and I sat on the bed and pulled out my shoes. Bridget put them on for me as Jessica looked on. I stood again and walked to the mirror.
“Wow.” I said to myself.
“Yeah, you look amazing.” Bridget nodded.
“Stunning.” Jess added.
“Keep ‘em coming.” I laughed.
“Breath-taking. Now bring your ass so we won’t be late.” Jessica laughed.
I walked downstairs where my family was waiting to see me. My mom began crying immediately, and everyone else smiled simultaneously it seemed like. I got to the bottom step, and Bridget and Jessica came around me. We all took pictures, and selfies, before heading out to the many cars and the limo I was riding in. The wedding was going to be at Pier Sixty, a little venue on the Hudson, similar to where the bachelorette party was. The car ride was agonizing. I wasn’t only worried about how Riley was feeling, looking, and doing.. but I was worried about Jimmy. I hoped he was at least still coming after the other night.
“What’s wrong, love?” Mom asked, probably noticing me glaring out of the window like a sad person.
“Nothing.” I smiled.
“Is Jimmy coming?” Dad asked.
I shrugged. “Should be.”
“Fuck, pull over!” Bridget yelled to the driver. We were pulled over on the edge of the highway. Bridget crawled from her front seat to the back with my parents and Jessica.
“Do you want to do this, Zoey? Because if not, we can turn this fucking limo around and go home. I don’t want you doing something so major that you’ll regret.” Bridget spoke in a motherly tone.
“I’m fine. I can do this.”
“Are you 100 percent sure?” She questioned.
I nodded. “Yeah.”
“Okay.”
We continued driving and it was nothing but silence. We arrived and there were tons of people entering. My parents and Bridget got out and I was ordered to stay in until the outside was cleared. Jessica held my shaking hands and smiled.
“You’ll be fine. Even though I’ve been an asshole the past few weeks, today’s going to be great. How ever it turns out.” Her phone buzzed and she looked back up at me. “Coast is clear. Now or never, right?”
We exited the car, and the doors to the place were open. We walked into the hallway lined with candles and pink roses. Me and all the bridesmaids were in one room and getting ready. Hairspray aroma filled the room as they all fixed shoe straps, stray pieces of hairs, and other miscellaneous things. I stood over them, watching.
“Okay, I have something to say. Before I go out there, I want to thank you all for the most action-packed, thrilling, and overall fun few weeks. It’s been stressful trying to plan things and whatever, I’m just happy we made it in one piece. So, are we ready?”
They clapped, and I laughed because there was no point in clapping. They all headed out before me and lined up. I stood behind them, and my dad walked over to me and grabbed my hand. This was it. I was about to be married. The music began and my best friends began walking inside. I held his hand tighter.
“I’m so happy, and proud to call you my daughter. You look so beautiful. I wouldn’t give you away to anybody else.” He whispered.
“Thanks dad, I love you.”
“I love you too.”
The aisle was empty, the girls were all lined up next to Riley’s best men. He looked good. A slow, relaxing version of ‘Here Comes The Bride’ began playing, and we began walking. The room was standing, everyone was quiet. I looked to my right and various people I hadn’t seen in years were there, other people from my network and my show. I turned to my left and I saw Tina Fey smiling, Amy Poehler, Horatio Sanz, Maya Rudolph, Seth and Alexi Myers, Lorne Michaels, Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, and in the 4th row was the Fallon family. Mr. and Mrs. Fallon, Gloria Fallon, Nancy Fallon, little Winnie dressed in a blue dress with a bow in her head, and Jimmy. He looked over at me and I could tell he was getting emotional. His eyes were red and he was trying to grin, but it wasn’t working. I couldn’t look at him anymore. My heart ached seeing him like that, and I looked ahead again to Riley smiling widely at me. I smiled back, but the smile wasn’t genuine. He grabbed my hands and mouthed “You’re stunning” to me. I just smiled and looked to the priest, who began going on and on. I wasn’t listening to anything. I looked up at Riley, and he was still smiling. You would’ve thought his face was frozen. I looked over to Jimmy who had his hand over his mouth, gazing up at us. I turned back to Riley again. As I looked back and forth at each of them, I realized this was wrong. Riley read his vows, and he meant every word. I listened to him, trying to figure out where I went wrong and why I wasn’t with the man I was supposed to be with. It was all my fault. If I hadn’t let Jimmy go all those years ago, I would’ve been married already. But I decided to go with it, I mine as well find happiness with Riley. Jimmy was already married with a kid. And even though he claims to still love me, he’ll just go right back to Nancy and this whole thing can be over.
“And your vows?” The priest spoke to me.
“Oh.. okay sorry.” I woke up from my daydream and read them off. Words I wrote a few months ago and meant, today seemed like lies.
Jimmy’s POV
“Jimmy, stop moping and get ready. He’s about to say it.” Tina whispered from behind me. The only people who knew what was about to happen was Nancy, Gloria, Tina, and Jessica.
“I’m nervous.” I whispered.
“Yeah, I’d be nervous too.” Nancy spoke softly. “I love you Jimmy. I want you to go get her, don’t be afraid. Take a chance, you’ve taken so many. This one’s no different.”
“If there should be anyone who objects to this union, speak now or forever hold your peace.” The priest spoke. Gloria nodded her head to egg me on and I stood up.
“I object.” I spoke loudly. Zoey and Riley both turned around, stunned.
