I trotted up to the house, risking my cover by walking out on the road. Oh well, black wolf plus night equals invisible wolf.

The whole way back, the only thing I could think about was the full moon. Why had she warned me? It just didn't make sense.

What else didn't make sense? The car in our driveway that I didn't recognize. I sprinted up to the house and hugged the wall, listening.

The windows muffled it, but it didn't sound like it was another wolf over for a drop-in.

I scurried around to Jack's bedroom window. The light was on. Yes - he was there!

I backed up and ran and jumped up so I could see into the window. For the brief moment I was in the air, I peered into the room. It wasn't Jack, it was Will. Whatever, either one would do.

I tried to morph, but I physically couldn't; my body was not allowing the change.

I backed up and jumped at the window again, this time I clawed the window as fast as I could. All this jumping was starting to hurt my knees.

The window opened and Will leaned through. "Sarah?" he whispered.

I nodded and wagged my tail furiously.

"Just morph and I'll help you up, okay?" he said.

I grumbled and shook my head. I jerked my head up, pointing to the sky.

Will looked up and saw the full moon. "Oh, okay. I get what you're saying. I'll be right down."

He held the window frame and back up. Before I knew it, Will had flung himself out his window and down on the ground beside me.

He jogged around to the back of the house where there was a tiny porch and a back door. I scampered up to the door when he whistled for me to come.

Will opened the door and let me through before closing it behind him. I booked it up the hall. That hadn't gone according to plan - the hardwood floors were slippery with my claws and made a scraping 'clicky' sound... and it was loud.

I slid around the corner to the carpeted floor of Will's bedroom. The instant traction sent me sailing onto the bed less than gracefully. In mid-flight, I morphed, landing on my stomach.

Someone in the living room gasped, hearing the commotion. "What on earth was that?" they - an older woman - said.

I rolled onto my back and groaned in pain. Not only had I landed ungracefully, I had also hit my had on the headboard.

Will snuck in and closed the door quietly behind him. "I got you your bag... I figured you might want clothes."

I sat up and he tossed me my duffel bag. "Yah, thanks, Will. Anyway, who's out there?" I asked as I pulled on underwear and then clipped my bra.

He sighed. "Jack and Miah's mom."

I paused pulling a shirt on and screamed into one of Will's pillows. Jack's mom? Really? Why?!

He cleared his throat. "She stops in for a visit from time to time."

I leaned back and bridged to pull a pair of jeans on. There, all dressed. I stood up off the bed and looked myself over. Nothing special - boot cut jeans and a knit, low-cut, white and grey striped t-shirt.
