In life, parents are supposed to teach you everything you should know how to do - like using manners, and making food. But there are somethings that they can't teach - like how to kill an enemy, or turn into a different creature. Yes, there were something that parent's couldn't teach.

But that's what friends were for.

Best friends teach you how to ask out your crush, how to look good, and how to have fun doing things you know you're not supposed to do - like kill enemies or turn into a wolf.

Of course, all of this was racing through my head as I laid with it resting on my paws, drowsy beyond belief.

We all were in the woods, far from any semblance of civilization, teaching Desmond and Dezaray how to be real werewolves, not moon-lighters.

What was a moon-lighter? A wolf that is ashamed of being a wolf who only morphs on a full moon, when it's forced.

Burnum wanted them to appreciate the gift they'd been born with and embrace it. Dezaray was having trouble with that.

She seemed bound and bent on being a little brat about everything, complaining about how many better things to do. She'd attempted to runaway twice already, but Miah and I stopped her by tag-teaming.

Jack was in a deep sleep beside me, fidgeting and twitching uncontrollably. A couple of times, I swatted him with my tail, jolting him awake.

Desmond kept his eyes on me, constantly checking if I was watching or not.

Dezaray, pissed off and panting, called it quits for a while and they took a break. I stood up on my hind legs and morphed back into human form.

I had been clever and worn a black sports bra and black, ultra-mini yoga shorts, so I was covered - mostly - when I changed back.

My shorts were more like booty shorts, but it was better than nothing, especially since I wasn't comfortable yet with Desmond and Dezaray around.

At this point, all of us were in human form. I jogged up to Dez and play-punched him in the shoulder. "So how was that?"

He sighed. "Tiring. Do you these things a lot?"

"No, Burn just really wants you to learn our ways."

Dezaray butted in then. "Well, tell Burn that I really don't give a crap about being a werewolf."

That struck a nerve. "That's fine. You can live in the shadows with friends and companions that you will never be able to be completely honest and I can kick your ass backs to where it belongs."

For that she had no comeback, she only glared and walked away.

"Sorry about my sister, she's just really stressed right now." Dez said.

I turned to face him. "It's okay, it has to be rough - moving so far and being forced to start over."

"Yah, that and she absolutely detests my step mom. Where are your parents anyway? Shouldn't they be teaching you everything?"

Tears threatened to flow, but I pushed them back. "I haven't seen my parents in three months."

"Business trip?" he guessed.

Whatever, there was no point keeping it from him. "The abandoned me. I live with the pack now."

"Are you sure? They might have... umm..."

"Yes, I'm sure! I came home from school one day and there was nothing but my stuff and a good-bye note left. I'm also sure that it hurts to talk about them like it hurts you to talk about your mom, so I'm dropping the subject."
