Chapter eightteen

Danny

I'm so excited! Today Sky will finally be discharged after 3 weeks of hospital and I too will come back home. We decided I was moving to Sky with Leo and so did Lynn and Nick. We rent the house of Leo and I to Mr. Hoffmann, Skye's uncle, as we recently learned. That's the plan. Until now.

Today I woke up so early and now decide to pack Skyes and my stuff so we can leave right after the final examination. Everyone promised to pick us up and Leo is happy like a snow king. Lynn, Nick and Leo don't have to go to school. Mr Hoffmann and Jonas are also free. It's only seven and Sky is still asleep as the final inquest is not until 10am. While I pack the bag, I struggle to be as quiet as possible, but Sky still wakes up. Morning Danny. Already awake? What are you doing? Are her first words in the morning. I put the stuff I have in my hand in my pocket and give my sweetheart a kiss. Morning sweetheart! I pack our things, today we go home! Are you already happy? Yes and how! Finally back in my, um our room, to sleep and to have Leo and the others around me. Leo has become like a son to me and I miss him terribly. Wait I help you. After that we sat down in the cafeteria and had breakfast first. Sky gets up, grabs a pair of fresh clothes and pulls over. I, too, do that. Then we start packing the bag. Together, it doesn't take five minutes for us to pack it all in. We leave the room and stroll hand in hand through the corridors towards the cafeteria. When we pass the lounge, we discover Karl, an old gentleman, certainly already over 80, with whom we have befriended us here in time. Hi Karl, how are you? All Fit? Sky greets him kindly and serene as always and we stop. HI Sky, hello Danny. I'm doing quite well that far. As good as you can do at my age. Thanks to the demand. And today it's going home for you guys? Yes. Well then, do well. Good luck to you. Yeah, thank you, you too, you see each other. Then we move on. In the cafeteria we sat down at a 2 table and I get our standard breakfast. 3 chocolate croissant and a bowl fruit with yogurt.

You Danny what does school actually look like for us? Are you allowed to keep your job? No idea but it is still a week school until the autumn holidays. We don't go back until after that, but Jonas has said we have an appointment with the principal on Monday where everything is discussed. Okay, but I hope I don't have to make him a snail again like the two cops back then. The autumn holidays we can use to clean up my house, which is now our house, and you are moving in. What do you think? Yes, that sounds good, but we have to go, in 10 minutes we meet with the others. And then there is already the conclusion investigation. We get up and go back comfortably to our room, where Leo, Lynn, Nick and Jonas are already waiting outside the door. Hello you, beautiful that you came to get us. The doctor would have to come right away. You can go to the ultrasound, we discussed that with the doctor. Oh that's really cool! Leo says after I translated it into sign language for him. Shortly thereafter, the doctor is already there, earlier than we thought. Sky needs to take some research on which we are not allowed to attend, which is why we all sat down in the waiting area and wait in silence for Sky to come back. About an hour later, the doctor asks us to the speaking room and we sat down on the chairs provided while Sky lie on the examination lounger. The doctor squirts the ultrasound gel on her bare stomach. I nervously hold her hand, even though I have been involved in these investigations for the last three weeks, because something can always have happened. Even the others are visibly nervous and as the regular heartbeat is heard saying all in sync WOW! And Leo nods enthusiastically, too. After the doctor announces that everything is fine with the baby and Sky is okay again, a stone falls from our hearts and we leave the hospital relieved with packed stuff.

Finally at home at Sky we are all genuinely relieved and everyone is well on it as Jonas has prepared girlfriend Lea for all lunches. We sit down at the table and eat the homemade pizzas together. You can get out of any mouth a Mhhm, that's delicious! Listen and Leo does the thumbs up. When he has finished eating, he announces to us that after the meal he wants to show us something and then we can follow him into the living room. We comply with his request and all sit full on the couch in the living room while Leo sits down to the piano. He starts playing a very complex piece of Bach and I'm not amazed when he played it without fail, perfectly. To this he starts with a second song unknown to me, which, like me, he has experienced later, he composed himself, which makes me fold my mouth on, because it is a more musically modern masterpiece. He also shows us his skills on the guitar and there he is also a natural. Sky is moved to tears and visibly proud of him. What surprises me, however, is that the others are not surprised at all, but then it occurs to me that they have heard him often while practicing. My deaf brother is a music genius. As I lie in bed with Sky in the evening I say to her you knew he's so good? No, he's made tremendous progress in the last three weeks while we haven't been there, but I've guessed he has exceptional talent. What do you think? Should we start a band? With Lynn, Nick, Leo and Jonas? I think we could have a lot of fun in common. Danny, the idea is excellent, but we certainly shouldn't put any pressure on Leo. He has to decide this on his own. But we ask the Other Morning definitely.
