"I mean nothing to you, so just leave me alone and focus on getting your band's good image back." And then I left him standing there, with the words I had heard him speak last night.
Ever since that last day I had not spoken to James once. It had been a whole week and even though his words stung from the night I heard him speak about me on the phone, I still missed him like fuck. Just everything, from the constant rows to the cute little things he'd do. I also hadn't had any messages or calls from Joe or Lisa.
We announced our 'relationship' through twitter and yes I did get quite a few hate comments which made me miserable for a few days. But Anna managed to pull me out of my self absorbed hole.
Just as I was thinking how good it was that I hadn't had any news from Lisa, my phone lights up next to me and I see her name flash on the screen.
"Hi"
"Don't sound too happy to hear from me." Her stern voice replied
"Sorry, just having an off day I guess."
"You've been having a lot of them recently, why haven't you been with James? You confirm your relationship then ditch him for a week? That's not how this works Eleanor."
"Well I'm sorry but your job is to call me telling me when I'm meant to be seen with James. I was never meant to plan these myself."
"But I thought you liked spending time with him?" I could hear a slight hint of worry in her voice but it soon vanished.
"I did. Past tense."
"What happened?"
"Nothing happened, I just... realised that this is a job and needs to be taken professionally. I also have other things to get on with in life."
"Alright well.. you have a date with James tonight," I groan but she cuts me off, "It's not really a date, but you will be his 'date' to a movie premiere tonight. We'll need you to arrive at my house at 4 to be ready to leave at 7. Got it?"
I mumbled a quiet yes before quickly hanging up.
I was dreading tonight. It would turn out horrible. Me pretending I don't like James when as a matter of fact the feelings I had for him were just so overwhelming while he stands there pretending he actually likes me. I couldn't believe this was all just a game to him. It was just an act.
I had to keep reminding myself of that. It was just an act.
I sat down infront of the television with my laptop and opened up twitter and tumblr. Before I knew it, the clock showed it was 3.30pm. So I walked slowly upstairs to have a quick shower.
All clean and ready to go in sweats and converse, I grabbed my bag and penny board. Skating off towards the bus. Lisa had recently send me the address to her house so I had no trouble finding it.
Within no time I was faced with a large white building. Very modern features. I walked up to the door and just as I went to press the doorbell, the door flew open and Tristan was stood there.
"Miss Eleanor! What a pleasure to see you again!" He winked giving me a quick hug before ushering me through the door to the hallway, "I thought you were going to arrive with James?"
"Oh I was but I had things to do so I told him to just go ahead." I said, lying through my teeth.
He seemed to buy it as he placed his hand on my lower back and led me into the living room where it was full of the rest of the band, a few other people in suits and racks full of clothes. I stood in awe as I noticed someone flick through the dresses on the rack. I was never one to wear dresses but I suddenly felt excited to get into a dress.
"El?" I turned to see the face of the voice I wish I hadn't seen.
James stood infront of me dressed in a suit without a tie, as the top few buttons of his shirt was opened revealing a bit of his toned chest.
"Um hi." I said quietly, realising I had been staring for a little while.
"What are you doing here?" He says softly.
"I'm here for the movie premiere." I respond, but it came out more like a question than a statement.
"But why?"
"Because I was told to. Why else?" I said coldly.
I saw his expression change as he started to fiddle with his fingers and let out a silent, "Oh."
"Eleanor! Let's get you ready!" A high pitched voice rang through my ears as a lady dressed in tight leather trousers and a white top appeared in front of me. She dragged me to a chair in the corner that was faced away from a mirror.
"It can be a surprise." As she took in my confused look.
A long time later she turns me around in the chair and I'm faced with someone that didn't look anything like me. My hair had been curled to perfection and pinned to the back of my head, leaving a few curls around my face. My make up was not heavy but the dark lines around my eyes made them stand out. My lips were covered in a dark cherry coloured lipstick and to be honest, I looked stunning. I've never felt this way before.
"Do you like it?"
"I love it" I managed to choke out as my eyes meet the lady's next to me.
"Good! Now we go and look at outfits."
After heading over to the clothes rack I noticed that the boys were no longer in the room and it was just me, the hair stylist/make up artist and a few other important people who stood tapping away on their phones.
"Which one do you like the most?" I turned to see she had picked out three dresses for me to choose from.
The first was a strapless black number, that had sparkles around the bust and a few down the rest of the dress. It came just below the knees and looked stunning.
The next was a lot simpler. A floor length white dress that hugged the figure, with see through material on the sides of the waist to show some skin. "This one would accentuate your waist greatly." I nodded and smiled at her before moving onto the final dress.
The final was the one I knew I had to wear. It was red with straps that started off thin and got larger. It had quite a low cute but that didn't put me off how beautiful it looked. The lady saw my face lit up and grabbed the dress and a pair of heels; pushing them in my direction.
I laughed and slipped on the items in the room next door.
After the lady who's name I learnt was Julia, spent ages taking pictures of me on her phone and perfecting my hair and make up she brought me out of the lounge to the hall way where I saw the rest of the boys all dolled up and a few other females.
"Wow Eleanor, you look stunning!" I heard Tristan say as he walked towards me, I smiled thankfully and turned around to see James stood very close to me.
"El you look... beautiful." His eyes were wide in shock and I felt my heart flutter at his words. I couldn't help it. I was a fool for James McVey. But I wouldn't let this take over my heart, he didn't feel the same so let's get on with the night. It's all just an act.
The journey to the movie premiere was silent between me and James as we were sat next to each other, but the rest of the car was full of loud chatter between the rest of the group. I felt James eyes flicker to me numerous times and he opened his mouth to say something a lot of the time but then shut it when he saw me look at him. I don't understand why he was acting this way. It really did fuck up my brain.
The car came to a halt and the doors opened. I heard the screams of fans, and my eyes were blinded by the flashes that overcame my vision.
Everyone stepped out, leaving me and James alone.
"You coming?" He said sharply, as he held his hand out for me. I reluctantly placed mine in the palm of his as he not too carefully dragged me out of the car.
We stood infront of the car and I felt James place his hand on my lower back as he whispered in my ear, "Show time."
