Travis smiles, he hadn't smiled in a while, his teeth showed, the front one was chipped from his dad hitting his mouth against a wall a few weeks back. But his mouth was wide open and he was smiling.

"We should go out on a proper date, I'll drive us to a resultant and we can come back and watch a movie or something," Sal suggested.

"Can we do it tonight?" Travis tried to stop smiling but couldn't, he just figured this was a dream and he would wake up soon.

"Sure, I'll ask my dad if I can borrow the car," Sal looked around. "I'm broke though so it's not gonna be fancy." Sal reminds Travis.

"That's fine by me, but one request. Keep our relationship on the down low for now. If my dad finds out I'll be beaten worse then I've ever been,"

"Of course Trav, I swear on my life I won't tell him," Sal wrapped his arms around Travis and laid his head on his shoulder. They sat down on Sal's lumpy couch and hugged while watching The Fosters on Netflix. Travis had started watching a long time ago but stopped watching when he found out it was about 'faggots' Travis' mind began to race.

"Sal?" He whispered. Sal made a noise to imply he was listening. Travis paused for a few seconds, "Do you think God loves me?"

An hour later Travis left the house and went to prepare for their date night. He wasn't sure what to wear. Sal had warned him it wasn't gonna be fancy. He threw on a white shirt he often wore to church and some black jeans. He figured that was good enough. Sal, on the other hand, wasn't sure how to dress at all. He decided his typical black shirt but exchanged his red jeans for acid wash blue ones. He wasn't sure where he could go since the last time he was allowed in a restaurant fancier than Olive Garden with his prosthetic on he had to show his official medical records to the hostess.

Travis got permission from his dad and headed to Sal's place around 5:30.

"Hello, my adorable human being of a now official boyfriend!" Travis said sliding through the door.

"You look nice, I did tell you I'm not even allowed in Toykeo Joes?" Sal laughed pulling Travis into a hug.

"So where are we headed?"

"Only the fanciest Place In Nockfell, the one the only... Chipotle!" Sal said laughing.

They left for the dinner and about halfway in a woman approached them. Sals mask was still on but the bottom was unstrapped so he could eat.

"Hello you two, I must ask, what is prohibiting you from taking off your strange mask?" The woman asked.

"Oh- it's a prosthetic face actually," Sal said kindly to the woman. People in public often asked about Sally's prosthetic so he wasn't at all offended. "Oh, sorry. Are you two having a good night?" Travis was a little confused as to why she was asking them so many questions but he answered.

"Yeah," he put his hand over Sals. The woman looked alarmed.

"Aren't you, brothers?" There was a very awkward silence following that question.

"No, we're uh-dating," Travis answered. The woman pulled a cross necklace from underneath her shirt.

"God will never love you," she said in a stubborn tone and ran off. Sally looked over at Travis who had begun tearing up.

"She's right, god hates faggots like us." He started crying and Sals heart dropped. They were almost done with dinner anyways so Sal figured it was best to get him out of there ASAP.

Sal drove all the way back while Travis cried into the black leather of the passenger seat.

"Just kill me Sal, string me up down by the trees." Sal pulled over hearing that.

"Travis no, your a beautiful boy and I think you're gonna get through this, I'm right here with you."

When they got back to the apartments Henry walked in and greeted them. They went into Sals bedroom next. Sal threw off his mask and laid down. Travis pulled his own silver cross necklace out of his shirt, he gripped it so tight in his palms that his knuckles turned white. He continued sobbing into Sals shirt. Sal wrapped his arms around Travis and held him close to his chest.

"I love you Sally Face, you mean the world to me," he said in between sobs.

"I love you too Travis." Sal kissed the top of Travis' head and within a few minutes they were both fast asleep.

By around 2:00am Travis had woken up and stood up to get water. There was a cup of water on Sals desk so Travis just sipped from that. He looked up at himself in the mirror and frowned.
"I'd rather die than be alive right now."

I don't really like this chapter. It was also really short and I feel bad but WoW to chapters in one day. Also listen to Trees by McCafferty because it gives me so many Travis vibes it's almost weird. Have a good day my guys gals and non-binary pals!
