They were waiting at the entrance scanning the line of well dressed people, business men and women with their partners, laughing and talking. Still no sign of Cash.
Don't give up already. She'll come. She has to.
Steven looked at Thomas, who was standing at the entrance, and scanned the guests with a metal detector, later greeted them and let them go inside. He didn't like him for some reason.
Steven was suddenly alerted by the continuous flashes of the cameras as a limousine pulled up. He turned to Thomas who gave him a nod and pointed at the car.
"Its them. Stay alert." Thomas said through the earpiece "Stick to the plan Steven."
"I know that."
The front door opened and out came the president, his long legs moved quite elegantly as he approached the back of the car to open the door and as the flashes intensified at the mystery guest, Cash came out of the car wearing the most beautiful dress anybody has ever laid eyes upon. It was a gorgeous golden shade that trailed across the floor. It had silver frills at the end and some silver embroidery near the chest. Steven knew a lot of things about clothes. He's being doing fashion designing for a year now. Cash's hair had been tied to a braided bun.
"I thought her hair was brown."
"He must've told her to dye it blonde so that no one actually recognizes her. She's under a shit ton of makeup." Thomas said "Makes it hard to recognize her."
"Noted. Don't lose her. Keep her insight at all times."
"Why'd you think I got you? That's your job. I've got more people to guard. Ok stop now they're approaching."
The two of them took their time. They waved and smiled at the flashing cameras. Larson had his arm wrapped around her shoulder, she clearly felt uncomfortable, Steven noticed. Get. Your. Filthy. Hands. Of. Her.
They finally reached the entrance where they were greeted by Thomas. Cash's eyes widened but she immediately adjusted her composure and gave a smile to him. Elegance, Thomas thought, Doesn't suit you.
Both of them went inside, Steven silently followed them and kept his distance so as to not arouse suspicion. Larson sat her down at a chair along with some other women, None her type. He then went on to a small group at a corner of the room, men with wine and coats laughing and talking.
He looked at Cash again, the ladies were trying to make conversation with her and she was failing miserably, Typical Cash, doesn't know to talk. He went up to her "Can I buy you a drink miss?" she looked up and her eyes nearly burst out her sockets. The ladies stopped talking to glance at them and went on with their gossip.
She smiled and held out her hand which Steven took happily. They went over to the cocktail bar, where they both sat down.
"What the hell are you doing here C-"
"Steven. Its Steven Archer."
"Oh, it is now isn't it?" She raised her eyebrows at him "How the hell?"
"Let's just say gingerboy isn't as good a spy as I expected."
"That's true. He trusts easily, and very quickly too. So...... 'Steven Archer'" she smiled at that "I like it. Has a nice ring to it. Anyway, what's up? Australia and kangaroos were boring?"
"Nah they were good. I missed you. A lot actually. Thanks." He took the drinks from the table and handed a glass to Cash.
"So what's your name?" He took a sip and looked at her.
"Sofia. Sofia Gardner."
"I don't like it."
"Neither do I." She finished her drink and ordered another "God, Larson will kill me if he sees me drinking, especially with another man."
"Who's that piece of trash anyway?"
"Forget that. How'd you find me?"
"Well....... I got a certain call from a certain bar where I couldn't even hear the panicking bartender because of some crazy girl screaming in the background and then I heard other clamors and then glass breaking. I rushed as soon as possible. I found Thomas the next day enquiring the cops and he beat the bartender up. And now I'm here."
"Shit you got the call too?" She was trying to stop herself from drinking.
"Yeah I did." He snorted. Cash looked at him and then she laughed too. "You were drunk as fuck!" "Yeah I was."
The room became silent as a collective gasp and later some murmurs echoed across the place.
Cash and Steven made their way to the main hall where people were staring at a particular direction. Cash pushed among the crowds to see what they were so shocked out, until she saw it herself.
There was a man along with some other woman holding his arm. But the man, he looked....... Just like Larson. Cash looked at another side to find another person who just looked like him, he met her stare with his own and pointed at the other man.
He gave her a commanding gaze as if to say 'That's your target.'
Shit.
Gabe Larson never mentioned that James was a carbon copy of him.
They're twins.
