I could feel something soft under my head, and something warm on my face. My eyes didn’t want to open, but I wanted to see what was going on around me. My body ached in pain, and as I slightly shifted my body I yelped in pain. A voice soothed me, and my eyes opened finally to see where the voice had come from.

I didn’t recognize her at all. I searched my memory for her face, but could find no match. But we were in school, and she looked like she was in my grade. So how did I not know her? I could see a rag in her hand, which was gently wiping the blood off my face.

I tried to sit up, but instantly her hand shot to my chest and held me down.

“You’re seriously hurt. Don’t sit up.” She said to me in a forceful tone.

I obeyed her and stayed down. But it still bothered me that I didn’t recognize her, even though her voice was slightly familiar.

“What’s your name?” I asked, my throat punishing me for those few words.

She looked at me funny, but she never answered the question. Instead, she just kept wiping the blood off my face. I went to speak again, and quiz her further, but she just shushed me. She helped me sit up, and then put my arm over her shoulder. Slowly she helped me stand up, but I was extremely weak and every breath I took sent sharp tendrils of pain into my body.

Slowly I limped out of the classroom with her help, and we walked down the hallway to the back entrance. I wanted her to take me to the nurse, but then again, if they saw me they would know I got in a fight at school and I would be punished. It seemed like the girl could read my mind because she didn’t take me there. Instead we went through the back doors and into the parking lot.

She grabbed a set of keys out of her right pocket and clicked a button. From a short distance I could hear a little beep signifying a car being unlocked. I don’t know why I was about to get into a car with a complete stranger. For some strange reason I trusted her. I have no clue why, but she had helped me so far, so I can’t imagine her being crazy.

I just limped along with her, leaning so much of my weight on her. She must be strong because she never faltered in her step, and I felt safe leaning against her.

“I’m gonna help you get in the back. Do you want me to take you home, or to the hospital? Because you are seriously injured. Whoever did this to you, really didn’t hold back.” She said to me looking me right in the eyes.

“No! Don’t take me to either places. My dad would kill me if he saw me like this, and I don’t really like hospitals.” I said, freaking out.

“Well where do you suppose I take you? I could bring you to my house, but I don’t know if you’re okay with that.” She said.

“Just take me there. I don’t want to go home or to the hospital” I said.

With lots of her help I got into the small tan car. I couldn’t sit without being in pain, so she helped me lay down in the back. I had to scrunch up my legs because I was so tall, and I could hear her open her door and start the car. I was still in pain, and I could feel myself slipping from consciousness.
