Chapter Twenty-Two

Dylan's POV

I ran with my beta Sam towards the North border where we met with a terrifying sight. Everywhere we looked had gruesome beasts charging towards us with the intent to kill. I quickly glanced at Sam to see that a thin sheen of sweat had started to break out on his forehead. A lump formed in my throat and I had to force it down before giving orders of retaliation.

My warriors started to fight off the creatures with everything they had. I came into contact with the first and couldn't help cringing. Its appearance was so appalling it made me want to throw up my guts.

I slashed the soft side of its belly and its throat in one go and left it there to bleed out. For the next couple of minutes, I was slashing and ripping relentlessly, without any mercy. The fight was supposed to have worn me down by now, but my adrenaline was just too much. In my rampage, I had forgotten to look out for attackers coming from the sides and suddenly I felt two of them on my back. I tried bucking them off but failed miserably. In a last attempt to free myself, I flipped over onto my back and managed to get them off. As I practically flew off of them, one of their claws managed to swipe me by the neck. A searing pain tore at my neck and I roared in outrage. I looked at them with pure bloodlust in my eyes, from there I killed them in less than a minute.

The pain was beginning to course through my veins but the adrenaline was blocking it so I practically couldn't feel it. As we kept fighting, more kept coming and I started to become worried. I hope Bel is doing better than we are...

Isabella's POV

The scary creature lunged at me once more and I stood alert looking for a weak spot. He was limping on his right front paw, so I took the opportunity. As he neared me I feigned an injury which he fell for. He came stampeding towards me so I sidestepped him and dug my teeth into his incoming front paw. He howled in pain while I finished him off by ripping his head clean off of his shoulders.

I continued to battle those who were coming too close to the pack house along with the council members. We were doing quite ok actually until I felt a stream of pain on my neck which was slowly making it's way down my spine. This is Damon's pain, Allysa told me. I then began to panic. I wonder if he's ok, is he able to defend himself out there while withstanding this? I felt like I needed to be there to help him. As another jolt of pain came back, I decided to go and see what was happening at the main battle. I ran praying to the Moon Goddess for help.

The sight I saw when I arrived was utterly horrifying. There were dead bodies everywhere whereas the tough battle was still going on. I scanned the sight to see if I could spot Dylan, which I did and he didn't look so good. My heart started to pound faster. I ran towards him when a freaky net came out and practically engulfed me. It got caught in between my paws and I dove nose first into the sandy soil. I struggled for a moment before crying out from the pressure of the net. It seemed that the more I struggled the tighter it became. A slow clap resounded from behind me. A deep confusion befell me as I wondered who it could be. "Hello darling, so good to see you again," the creepy yet familiar woman said to me. "I can see you look baffled, come now...don't you remember your one and only auntie?" She queried with a sly grin.
