"Alexis, its been yea-" Alexis wrapped her arms around Friedrich, pulling him close and resting her head on his chest. Shocked, Friedrich remained still for a moment before embracing her in return.
"Friedrich, it's been so awful," She sobbed into his shoulder.
"I... How did you know where to find me?" Friedrich questioned.
"Your letters." She pulled many neatly folded squares of parchment from her pocket, "I kept them all these years, from back when we were kids. I just followed the address on the envelope. I didn't know if you still lived here, but it was the only lead I had." Alexis explained.
"What Happened Alexis? What's wrong? Why are you here?"
She pulled away from Friedrich, "My father, he supported hitler, but he also supported my mother. The Nazis would not tolerate a mixed French-German family. Knowing he and his family would be killed, he moved her to Paris while she was pregnant with me and eventually went into hiding with us. When I was 16, Father married me off to a nazi solider three times my age. I hated the marriage, but Father told me he was a close friend and that he would keep my French heritage a secret, so I tried so hard to be a good wife. My efforts didn't earn me any favours from my husband. He soon grew bored of my maturing womanly figure, and when I had reached 18 he set his sights on something more... young. My sister."
She turned her head to the closed door, and placed her palm on the door frame, "That was the last straw for me," She said turning back to Friedrich, "I gathered some belongings, and in the dead of night I took my sister and fled. I went from friend after friend, door after door, until I found you, Friedrich."
