“When he opens his arms and holds you close tonight, it just won’t feel right. ‘Cause I can love you more than this, yeah. When he lays you down, I might just die inside. It just don’t feel right. ‘Cause I can love you more than this, can love you more than this.”

I woke up to the sound of my cell phone ringing. I reached out and grabbed my phone, accepting the call without even looking at the caller ID.

       “Hello?” I said groggily.

“Hello, is this Jennifer? It’s me, John!” a voice called from the other end.

“Hm? Oh, hi John,” I mumbled, yawning.

“Are you still in bed? Why are you still sleeping?! It’s 11 a.m. already!” he shouted over the phone.

“WHAT?!” I shrieked, and snapped my head to look at the clock. Yup, it was 11 alright. I WAS SUPPOSED TO LEAVE BY 12!!!

       “OHMYGODI’MSUPPOSETOLEAVEBYTWELVEOHMYGODOHMYGODOHMYGOD!!!” I screamed.

“Jennifer, calm down, calm down! Now, I just need to tell you something quick, so please don’t get hyper,” said John, “You have won the 2 tickets and VIP passes to the One Direction concert.”

My mouth flew open, unable to take in the fact that I had won tickets to see my idols.

“Jennifer? Jennifer? Are you still there?” called John.

“I, um, oh God… are you serious?! Holy shit! When do I go and pick them up?” I said, breaking out of my shock.

“You can come by right now if you want, we’ll be at the mall all day…”

“OKAY I’LL BE THERE BY TWELVE BYE!”

I hung up, stuffed my phone in my bra, and began packing. I just threw everything messily into my suitcase and ran to the bathroom. There, I just cleaned my teeth and put my hair up in a messy bun, not even bothering to put on makeup or even take a shower. I was too much in a rush to care about my appearance. Dazed, I threw on a pair of jeans and a white tee as I dragged my suitcase out of my room and grabbed a few slices of bread from the kitchen. I snuck a look at the clock. 11:58. Damn.

Stuffing the bread in my mouth, I quickly did a double check of my things. Convinced that I had everything, I rushed out the door just in time to hear Andrew’s door open.

I ran with all the energy I had left to the nearest store which happened to be Tim Horton’s. I ran all the way to the back of the shop, where I sat down in shock, registering what just happened.

I had won tickets to a One Direction concert. Andrew has a new slutty girlfriend. I got kicked out by my ex-boyfriend.

Suddenly, I broke into tears. Sobbing for the loss of my parents. Sobbing for getting kicked out of my only shelter. Sobbing for my dreadful life.

Then, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and found myself looking at an old woman with silver hair and kind eyes, looking at me with concern.

Embarrassed, I stood up and hastily wiped away my tears.

“What is wrong, my dear?” asked the lady gently.

“I, um, I don’t really wanna talk about it right now, sorry,” I sniffed.

The lady smiled, and it felt like she understood that I didn’t want to be talking about it.
