                “W-what?” he blurted out.

“I said, I’m leaving,” I said coldly, as I finished packing. I know that I shouldn’t be mad at Zayn; I was just known to take out my anger and sadness at the first person I see.

                “But why?” he asked pleadingly.

I didn’t answer him; I just grabbed my suitcase and pushed past him, making my way to the door.

“Jenn, wait!” he called. I could hear his footsteps behind me.

“Why should I?” I mumbled, my hand grasping the doorknob.

“At least tell me what I did wrong.” His voice was full of hurt and regret for something that he didn’t even do.

I took one last look at his always-smoldering, pleading eyes before I whispered, “You did nothing wrong.”

I turned around, opened the door, and left. Just like that.

“Jennifer!” I heard him choke out. I felt so ashamed that I took out my anger on him. He really did nothing wrong. Tears clouded my vision as I quickly ran pressed the elevator button. Fortunately, the elevator opened immediately, as if waiting for me all this time. I walked briskly in and I pressed the button for the lobby. All this time, I didn’t hear or see a sign of Zayn. It looked like he really didn’t care if I left or not. For some reason, that piece of information hurt me very badly.

No one cares about me in this world, I thought, meaning every word that came to my head as I raced out of the elevator and out the door.

                Zayn’s POV

I watched in despair as she turned away from me and dashed out the door.

“Jennifer!” I cried out, but she didn’t even look back.

I would’ve ran after her, but my mates stopped me.

                “No, lad,” Harry told me.

“No. NO!” I sobbed, trying to fight my way out of their grasp.

“Calm down, calm down,” said Louis soothingly.

“It’s her choice to leave, right? If you went to get her, she would’ve been angrier at you because you went against her decision,” Liam reasoned.

I stopped trying to fight my way out. What Liam said did make sense. They took the advantage of my sudden stop and pulled me to the couch where they made me sit down.

I was shaking from my outburst, but they rubbed my back and told me calm words. That helped me to relax just a little. Sometimes they seemed more like brothers than mates, and I liked that.

“Now, mate, what did she say before she left?” said Niall softly.

“S-she wouldn’t say. It seemed like she was angry at me. I-I don’t know what I did wrong,” I choked.
