Kennedy's POV:
I was laying in the hospital bed, talking to Dylan about the stuff I missed while I was in the coma for three weeks. The door opened and my eyes flickered to see Adrien. "Kennedy, you woke up!" He said. I smiled and nodded, sitting up a bit so it was easier to see past Dylan. Adrien stood a bit back and waited for both of our attention.
"Can I talk to Kennedy alone for a moment?" He said, looking straight at Dylan. Dylan nodded and got up, leaving and closing the door softly behind him. I looked at Adrien and waited for what he wanted to say. "What's up?" I asked after the bit of silence. I could almost see the gears turning in his head and the debate he was holding with himself.
"Adrien, just talk to me okay? Ask me anything you want and tell me what you need to but I honestly want to get some rest." I said, wincing at the shooting pain that came from the wound on my abdomen. "Maybe I should just let you rest. It's really not that important anyway." He mumbled, avoiding my eyes. I swear, this boy knows how to get on my nerve.
"No, nuh-uh, not happening. You made my boyfriend leave so you could talk to me and I am not just letting you leave without talking to me, so talk." I said, crossing my arms despite the pain it created and shooting him a pointed look. He finally surrendered and sat down in the chair Dylan was occupying earlier.
"Okay, so I have some questions." Adrien said, fidgeting with his fingers. "How did you not escape?" he asked. I thought through it and wondered how much I should actually tell him. "Well, he first froze my foot in ice and then when I tried to escape, he threatened me and hit me so I decided it was probably smarter to wait for you and Ladybug to show up." I said, slightly shivering at the memory.
Adrien lightly had his hand on my arm and concern was written across his face. I gave him a small smile and said "I'm okay. Anything else?" "Yes. Why didn't you just let us defeat him?" Adrien asked. My stomach dropped and I looked away from him. "I would rather be in my current condition than have one of you in the hospital. I knew I had a better chance of coming out alive then you guys getting injured. Dylan was already hurt and I knew that he would only end up with a bruise but I can't be on the sidelines and watch my friends and family get hurt."
I looked back up at Adrien, my eyes glossed over with tears. "Losing one of you guys would bring me into a depression, and even the thought strikes pain in my heart. I would do it over and over again if I had too if just to spare injury for you guys." Silent tears were rolling down my face but I made no haste to rid them. Adrien pulled me into a soft hug which I gladly returned.
"I'm glad you're okay cousin." Adrien said quietly. I laughed lightly and said "It's good to be alive. In all truth, transforming into my Pheonix form, even though it drained my energy and probably is what put me in a coma, also probably saved my life." We pulled apart from the hug and he quirked an eyebrow. "How does that work?" Adrien asked. I smirked and said "Ancient Dutch Royalty secret." He stuck his tongue out at me and I laughed.
"In all honesty, this isn't what I came here for. I came to give you this." Adrien said, handing me a sealed envelope. I took it from him and broke the seal open. I pulled out a folded note and my miraculous from the envelope. I clipped on my miraculous and smiled as the bright ball of light stopped in front of me. "Kennedy?" Lumara said. "Lumara! Oh, I missed you." I said, hugging my Kwami to my shoulder. She smiled and said "I missed you too." before sitting on my shoulder. I picked the note back up and unfolded it.

Kennedy,
I assume you are out of your coma now that you are reading this, good. I wanted to tell you that I am retiring and probably already left for my vacation. You may do what you please with the general business, sell it if you wish. I am also handing down the responsibility of guarding the miraculous to you. I am leaving my miraculous with the others that are there. Please do well and remember what I have taught you. I know that about a week doesn't seem like enough time but I trust you. You will also be inheriting all of my belongings and most of the income that I have saved, minus the small portion that I took out to pay for my trip. I have faith in you young dragon.
-Uncle Fu
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Im...the new Guardian of the miraculous?! I don't think I can pull this off... No, I have to do this, for my uncle. He said he believes in me and I will not let him down. I took a shaky breath and looked up at Adrien from the note. He looked worried as well and I mentally made my mind up. I will do it, not just for my uncle, but for the sake of all my friends and family, for the sake of Paris and the world. For the protection of all of my Kwamis, who are so special in their own way and my friends.
"I'm going to do this and no matter how hard it gets, I will keep everyone safe." I stated, firmly making up my mind. He nodded and said, "If you ever need help, don't hesitate to ask." I nodded. Suddenly, a black blur came shooting out of Adrien's overshirt and Plagg was hugging my cheek. "Finally, mom is the Guardian!" The little Kwami said. I giggled and held him in my hand, lightly scratching the space between his ears with my index finger.
"Mom?" Adrien asked, bewildered at his Kwami's actions. I giggled again and said "Plagg likes to call me mom. I don't mind and I think it's cute but I don't know why." Plagg flew off my hand and said "It's because you are like the mom I never got to have. You're always so caring and helpful but know how to keep us in check." "Aww, thanks Plagg." I cooed, a smile on my lips.
We talked for a bit longer and then Adrien left with Plagg, promising to bring everyone else over tomorrow to say hi. After he closed the door, I laid back down and gave in to the sleep that wanted to consume me for the past twenty minutes. I closed my eyes and sighed as the darkness enveloped me with sleepy dreams.
