~Lilly's POV~
~~~A few weeks later~~~
I look around to see Lizzy and the rest of the party all ready to fight as soon as we get the signal to go into the boss's room. We had teamed up with Kirito and a new girl, Asuna, who seems nice enough. When we had met her once before today when we had gotten jumped by some PK'ers and none of the inns would us stay there, because when I killed one of the men, my symbol turned orange. She had let us stay at where she was staying after we explained our situation. Luckily, my symbol changed back after a few days, so we didn't have to impose for too long.
I smiled, thinking about how every time Kirito talked to Asuna, he would blush ever so faintly. I don't think either of them realized it, but it was funny to watch Kirito try to act cool around her. Now that I think about it, they would make an amazing couple.
I turned my attention back to watching the team leader to signal to all the other teams to charge in. Our job was to distract and kill the boss's minions. I turned to Lizzy and smiled.
"Hey, ready to take down this big guy?" I asked with confidence.
She gave her brightest smile, "Yeah! I am ready to kick some boss rat butt!"
We laughed until we saw the signal. Now! We all rush in as one, slowly separating into smaller groups to fight our designated monster.
The boss, also known as Illfang the Kobold Lord, was a hideous monster with blood red fur and eyes that glow a deep crimson shade, it's muscles bulging. The minions looked less intimidating, as they look like suits of armor with a creme plume on top.
Group A and B took down the all the heath bars except one with ease, but when they got to the last one and the boss changed weapons, I heard Kirito yell.
"That's not the same weapon as in the beta testing!! You need to stay back!" He screamed to everyone. I studied the sword the boss had pulled out and Kirito was right; it wasn't the same as in the guide.
At that moment, Kirito and I noticed the leader of group B, Diavel, charging with his men and encircling the boss. The boss used omnidirectional katana skill, which knocked back and stunned all of group B. I watched in horror as the boss used a 4-hit combo on Diavel, causing his health bar to deplete to zero.
While my mind was focused on the gore unfolding in front of me, I wasn't paying attention behind me. I let out a screech as a sharp blade came intact with my back, knocking me to the floor and stunning me. Unable to move, I helplessly watched my health bar move to the red zone and the minion raise his sword to strike again.
My eyes squeeze shut and think, I wonder what it feels like to die... Is it soothing or painful? I wait for the pain to come, but it never does.
My eyes flutter open and look up to see a young man with dirty blonde hair and eyes the color of the ocean, healing me.
After he finishes healing, the mysterious young man helps me to my feet and supports me as we watch Kirito and Asuna finish of the boss.
He turns to me, grins, and said, "My name's Ace. How about we hang out some time as repayment for me saving you?"
I glanced at him; he seems nice enough and he is really cute. I flash a smile and reply, "Sure! My name's Ocean by the way and thanks for saving me back there!"
"It was nothing, and has anyone said that your name matches your hair? I can imagine a mermaid with brown and blue hair, just like yours," he said as went back to his group, waving as he left me behind.
