Seeing as we had all of Thursday off due to the villain infiltration incident, I decided to relax and do nothing all day. Well, that was the plan at least until I raided my kitchen for food and discovered I had nothing. Well, nothing that I was in the mood for at least. With a disappointed sigh, I finished up my daily routine, not counting breakfast, and threw on some outfit that most definitely was not fashion-forward. Why would I try to look nice when I was just going out to buy food before coming right back here? I couldn't wait to finish up and change back into my comfy pajamas. Slipping on my comfy tennis shoes at the genkan, I grumpily trudged to the train station, taking a train to Tatooin Station.
"Stupid cupboards not having food... I'll show them what having food means, the fuckers..." I mumbled foully under by breath, getting off the train.
Turning left after exiting the station, I made my way over to the local grocery store that I had seen previously. Walking past the automatic doors, I beelined straight to the instant food section. I was on a budget, and if I don't have to do a lot of work to get decent food, then I'm all for it.
'Those guys said they'd cover my living expenses, but not my leisure and extra expenses, so I've gotta be careful about how much I spend,' I thought to myself as I looked through the different options. 'Now, what am I in the mood for?'
I kept looking until something caught my eye. Reaching out, I grabbed a package of instant tonkotsu ramen. Satisfied with my find, I was about to go check out, but then I saw the dessert aisle. And, well, I just couldn't resist. Turning down the aisle, I scrutinized the variety of Japanese desserts, a smile unconsciously tugging on my lips. At the far end of the aisle, there was a section for refrigerated desserts. And there they were. Mochi of all different flavors: strawberry, red bean, matcha, and many others. I contemplated whether I should buy some mochi or not, after all, who knows how good these grocery store mochi taste? Glancing down at the price, I knew I had to get it. It was only 230 yen (roughly $2.30-ish USD). Grabbing a (favorite flavor) one, I turned around to go check out but was stopped by someone calling my (first name/alias).
"(a/n)? Is that you?" Looking up, I saw that it was Uraraka, who was now running towards me. "What are you doing here?" She asked, now in front of me.
"Oh, just getting something to eat for today; there's nothing good at home," I replied, looking at the basket she was holding, seeing a couple of different spice containers and a bottle of mirin. "You shopping for dinner?" I asked, pointing to her basket.
"Yeah, we were out of some of the spices my parents wanted to use, so I came to buy some," she smiled at me, but looked a little surprised when she looked down at my hands. "You've got mochi?"
"Yeah, what about it?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, well, it just reminded me of this shop down the road that makes really good mochi!" she exclaimed, looking really excited. "Hey, my parents said that I'm allowed to buy whatever I want with the change, so do you wanna go get some mochi together?" she looked at me expectantly.
I knew that if I said no, she'd just keep pestering me like kids do, so I gave in. "Fine," I said, as I turned around and put the mochi back. "If you've got everything, let's go check out already."
"O-K!" She gave me a blindingly bright smile.
After checking out, she tugged me to a little shop down the road.
"C'mon, this place has the best mochi I've ever had!" She exclaimed as we walked up to the glass cases that housed various confections, including mochi. "Which one do you want?"
"The (flavor) one, please," I said, watching her nod and bounce off to go put our order in.
As she was doing that, I took a look around the shop. It was a quaint little place with a two-tone colored wall, the top half being a pastel pink and the lower a neutral brown. The wall was covered in tall windows, letting the shop bask in natural light. There were also a couple of potted flowers hanging from the ceiling. The floor was made of a reddish wood and held small round tables that seated anywhere from two to four.
I was pulled out of my little stupor by Uraraka handing me my mochi wrapped in wax paper. She led me over to a small table for two by the window, where we both took a seat. Immediately, she unwrapped her mochi and took a bite, humming in appreciation afterwards, a wide smile adorning her face. Not wanting to wait any longer, I followed suit. I quickly unwrapped my mochi and took a bite. Holy shit, it was good. I almost groaned in happiness from the divine taste, but managed to hold it in.
"See? I told you it was good!" Uraraka looked super pleased with herself.
"Mmhmm," I hummed in agreement, my mouth still full of mochi.
We sat there in silence as we ate, but it was a comfortable silence; we both knew that the moment was perfect by just enjoying our mochi. Well, at least that's what I thought.
"Hah, that was good," Uraraka said with a bright grin after she finished her mochi.
"Yep, it was," I replied. "Definitely better than that convenience store mochi. Oh wait, Uraraka, how much was it?" I asked, getting out my wallet.
"Oh, don't worry about it (a/n)! It's my treat! After all, I'm the one who dragged you here in the first place," Uraraka blushed a little bit and scratched her chin in sheepishness.
"No. Nope. No way, I am not having that," I said, taking out a 1000-yen note from my wallet. "You are taking this, and I am not taking no for an answer." I handed the bill over to her, but she still denied it.
"No, really, (a/n), I insist."
"I said," I stood up from my seat and walked over to stand in front of her, "'I am not taking no for an answer.'" I stuck out the note again, but she still didn't take it. "Ugh, fine. I guess we're doing this the hard way." I grabbed her hand, placed the note in it, closed her fingers around it and ran. "Good luck giving that back to me now," I said as I ran out the shop.
"Wha- wait! (a/n)!" Uraraka shouted after me, but I was long gone.
'Haha, I win this time Uraraka!'
How easy it was to forget that I would see her again at school when it resumed the very next day.
A/N: I have returned after being sick for a solid two weeks and catching up with the Jojo's Bizzare Adventure anime (and the part 5 manga) and I absolutely love it; I adore it. Jotaro is my favorite Jojo, part 4 was my favorite part- the villain was great. But sweet Jesus Part 4 Jotaro, that adult Jotaro, hot damn fuck I love him almost as much as my cat. I understand all the Jojokes now. Za Warudo. Bitesu da dusuto. I get it. I finally understand. I'm so happy aaaaaaahhhhh but anyways, thanks for stickin with me, and I hope you've enjoyed.
XOXO
