Kinkajou's POV
Kinkajou was in the nurse's office, visiting Tamarin, her, well, second-best-friend.
Tamarin was a blind girl. She was the only one in the entire school. Kinkajou felt sorry for her when people started bullying her about being blind.
Now, she felt even more sorry because she was hit by the explosion. Making her blind was hard enough with the bullying, but knocking her out with an explosion? Seriously??!!
"Kinkajou, Tamarin is awake now." The nurse said, walking out of Tamarin's room. She jumped up from her seat and dashed into the inside.
Tamarin was sitting up with a plate of fruits and vegetables in front of her. "Who is it?" She asked. Kinkajou gave a happy squeal.
"Tamarin! Omigosh you're awake! Finally! I was so worried! How are you feeling? Are you still hurt? How much did the fire burn you? Or did you even get burned?" Kinkajou ranted.
Tamarin smiled. "Let me guess, Kinakjou?" She asked.
The pink and yellow haired girl skipped off the bed and said, "Well no duh it's me! How are you feeling?"
The two talked for a while and almost missed the bell ring for classes.
"The nurse said I have to stay here for another day. You know, just to heal." Tamarin said as Kinkajou walked out of her room.
Kinkajou nodded and walked to her Art Class. She passed the History Classroom on her way there and stopped to gaze at it.
Hm. How did it even explode? Last time I checked, classrooms in high school don't just randomly explode and catch on fire! Oh I gonna be late for class!
Finally, Kinkajou made it to Art Class. Barely. She sat down on the left to Glory, one of her friends. Deathbringer was sitting on the other side of her.
He gave her an If-you-do-anything-to-her-I-will-kill-you look. Which, Kinkajou ignored and turned her attention to the teacher.
It was Ms. Asha. Her favorite teacher! Yay!
"Yesterday, as you all know, an explosion happened in the History Classroom." Ms. Asha said. "Sadly, two of our students, Carnelian and Bigtail, did not make it out alive."
Kinkajou gasped. She was probably the only one who did. She knew she wasn't able to get either of the two out, but she thought that they would've been able to survive.
"Now, I want you all to pick a partner and start a painting together. Something you two have in common." Ms. Asha instructed.
Glory and Deathbringer paired up instantly, which Kinkajou found adorable. "Turtle!" She called.
The emerald green haired boy looked up and said, "yes?"
Kinkajou giggled. "Partners!" She shouted. Turtle gave a small smile and walked next to her.
"This is going to be hard." He said. "What do we have in common?"
Kinkajou thought for a moment. "Favorite food?" She asked.
"Sushi." He answered instantly. Kinkajou shook her head. "Nope, I like fruit better." She said.
They continued searching through questions for a while. Nothing they came up with matched the other. Kinkajou sighed as the bell rang.
Most people have already started on drawing, while Kinkajou and Turtle still had to find something they had in common.
"I'll see you later, I guess?" He asked as they walked out of the classroom. Kinkajou nodded and headed towards her dorm.
She turned to look at a corner and squinted her eyes. The hallway she looked at was a dead end, with lights broken and dark.
She was almost certain she felt movement in the shadows. Kinkajou shook her head and looked again.
She heard breathing in the silence. Long, deep breathes. "Turtle!" She shouted, wanting to be in the protection of the green haired boy, even if he wasn't really he best at fighting.
But why? Why do I want that?
A moment later, she felt a warm presence behind her. "Kinkajou! Are you alright?" Turtle asked frantically.
She looked back into the shadows. She saw nothing there. Heard nothing there.
But something was there before. Just not right now. Where did it go?
She turned back to Turtle. "I'm fine. Sorry, I just panicked because of....something." She said
Turtle have her a skeptical look but shrugged it off. Together, they walked back to the dorms.
Together.
