For the last hundred years humans have been underground in caves. I suppose I should tell you who I am but I'll get to that. For now just listen to why we are down here.

A hundred years ago the world changed. An experiment went wrong, releasing deadly animals from other planets. Why they were experimenting on them? That remains unknown. Everyone ran for the hills some remained too stubborn to flee. One day someone found a vast underground cave and told everyone. People were finding them all over the world. They gathered supplies and built the city were we live now. The underground city of Donger-slaughter.

What's my name? My name is Livie Grey. I was born on January 25th, the year 3018. today is my birth day and the festival. im turning 15 today and am now an adult. I woke up this morning and went down stairs. "Good Morning family, today is the day." I said while walking down the stairs. " Happy Birthday Livie." My mom said when I reached the bottom. The living room smelled like scramble eggs and toast. " Mom I'm going to meet Kaala at the festival. Ok?" I said as i ran out the door not giving time for my mom to answer. as i ran to the festival to meet my best friend, i have a feeling that today might be more special than it is. Lost in thought, i run into my best friend Kala, and we both fall to the ground. "Livie! Watch where you are going! You ran into me,dingus." said Kala clearly annoyed. " Sorry, Kal." i said apologizing to my best friend. "i was lost in thought." "Well..." She said. "Can't really blame you. Today is your birthday and the festival of continuity. So I really can't stay mad at you." "Thanks Kala. Now let's move or we won't have time before the ceremony to hangout." I said while dragging Kala behind. "Today is more special than ever Kal. I can feel it." "Whenever you feel something Liv. It always ends us up in trouble" Kala said as I dragged her to the festival grounds. "Dont say they dont, we have been best friends since we were babies." "This is different, Kal. This feels like.....like it's calling to me.That's the best way to describe it." "Ok Liv, i believe you." Festival music reached our ears interrupting our conversation.

When we reached the grounds Kala asked me, "So, what do you wanna do first?" "Well..." i said thinking. "The ceremony doesn't start until noon, and it's like 9:00 am now. So let's go eat, then go play games." "Liv..." "What Kal?" "Its 11:30. the ceremony starts in 30 minutes." "Oh crap, We're going to be late." I said sprinting towards where the ceremony was being held. "The ceremony is the main event at the festival to boost morale and to introduce the next generation of adults. If your late you have to wait another year before you can go to work. Two minutes till it starts." "Kal!!" I yelled behind me. "We're almost there. We can make it." Running with epic speed we made it with seconds to spare. Kala puts on her long black dress with a silver pattern on the chest. I changed into my yellow and blue flower dress, role is taken and we head out to the stage in a single file. Excitement filled the area kneeling where we were told the ceremony began. It continued til it came my turn. I was the last in line and the last to get my assumed job. "Livie Grey! 15 years of age .........." The major paused. Thoughts ran through my head as the silence continued. "What was wrong? Does he not have a job for me?!" I continued to worry and look at my knees. "You will be my new assistant!" The crowd roared with excitement. "The major hasn't taken any new assistants sinces he became the first 15 year old major and his mom died 5 years ago." theses thoughts ran throughout my mind. After we got off the stage I ran up to the major, " T-t-thank you M-Mr. Major. Its a-an ho-honor to be your assistant." I shuddered my gratitude to the Major. "Your welcome, Livie. Go have a fun day and cover up with a scarf. It's going to get chilly later and I don't want my new assistant to catch a cold and miss her first day." He responded. "O-ok Mr. Major I'll do that." I said as he left. I put on a scarf and the rest of the day was filled with laughter, candy, and hanging out with Kala. That night I went to sleep with a feeling that tomorrow is going to be special.
