"Do you ever go anywhere without that damned laptop?" I ask throwing at fry at my best friends head.

"Hey, I've got a deadline to meet!" Jughead says flinging the fry back at me.

"Oh, is that so," I said continuing to throw fries at him, making me giggle with excitement.

"Sorry, didn't know having a food fight was on the schedule today," he said grabbing several fries, and line driving them straight to my face.

I grabbed whipped cream from my shake onto a spoon and flicked it across the table at him. It landed on the front of his shirt. His mouth fell opened, a smirk playing in the corners of his mouth, he scooped up some whipped cream on his finger and reached across the table and plopped it right on my nose, and then he broke out into a fit of laughter.

I fake pouted before laughing right along with him. I grabbed a napkin and wiped the whipped cream off my nose, and handed him one to do the same to his shirt.

"What are you writing anyway?" I asked him trying to turn the laptop screen around to face me. He pulled it away so I couldn't see.

"Nothing, just a...creative writing assignment." He said closing the lid slightly.

I rolled my eyes, "so why can't I see it then?" I asked crossing my arms on the table.

"Because...it's not finished yet...and it's just the first draft." He said making up excuses.

"Okay, fine whatever, Jones." I said reaching across the table and swiping his beanie off his head. I placed it in my own and gave him a triumphant smile.

"Let's order more food," he said looking around for the waitress.

"But, you're not even done with what you've got..." I replied suspiciously. I think he's just trying to change the subject.

"Well, considering half of my fries are now in the floor, I'd like some more," He laughed again and flagged down the waitress, who glared at us for the mess we had made.

"Maybe I should clean up this mess a bit," I say feeling bad for making such a mess. I walked over to the counter and asked Pop for a broom. He told me I didn't have to clean it up, but I couldn't just leave it. He handed me one around the counter, and I walked back over to our table and Jughead was hard a work again.

"Better watch your feet," I say starting to sweep, "you won't get married if someone sweeps under your feet." I joked.

"Well, in that case, be my guest." He said lifting his feet up with a fake innocent smile.

I laughed and swept the fries out from under him and his seat. "There," I said before taking the broom back to Pop. "That's better." I say taking back my seat across from Jughead.

"I have to go to the restroom," he said closing the top of  his laptop slightly and standing up. "Do not peek." He said scolding me. He knows me too well.

I rolled my eyes, " Okay! I won't!" I told him giving him a sincere nod and smile.

"I mean it y/n," he warned.

I huffed, "I said I won't," I told him trying to reassure him.

He nodded and walked to the back of the diner to the bathrooms.

"Ha! My fingers were crossed," I say to no one as I turn his laptop around and lift the lid. I start reading.

'The Misadventures Of J andY/F/I' I read the title and munched on some fries as I read. After reading a few lines I realized that Jughead was writing about me. Well, about us and our friendship. A grin spread across my face, and I saw Jughead's beanie through the little round window in the door. I quickly placed the laptop back where it was and focus on the fries in front of me.

"You looked didn't you?" He chuckled sitting down in the booth.

"What? Why would you think that? I am offended that you would-"

"How much did you read?" He crosses his hands in front of him on the table.

"Just the first couple sentences," I admitted giving him a smile.

"I wanted it to be a surprise, I was going to give it to you for your birthday next week, but since you ruined it," he laughed and opened the laptop and turning to to me, "I'm writing a fiction book based on our lives and friendship." He said proudly.

"I'm sorry that I ruined the surprise," I told him guiltily.

"That's okay, it was wishful thinking that I could keep a secret from you anyway," he chuckled.

"Well, look I only read the first couple sentences so tell you what," I closed the laptop and slid back to him across the table, "you save the rest for me to read when it's finished." I give him a smile, and his smirk grows.

"Deal," He said placing the laptop back in his bag.

"Now, can we go swimming at the quarry?" I asked as we climb out of the booth.

"Absolutely!" He said and we walked out of the diner together, and climbed on the back of his motorcycle.
