chapter fifteen || fairytale

i slept in the lot last night. i didn't want to go in the curtis' house and disturb them. luckily johnny kept me company though.

it was a normal day. i helped everyone with their hangovers and helped cleaned up the house a bit. johnny told me to meet him at the lot later, before the sunset. i didn't think much of it but he and dally was gone the majority of the day which made me worried.

i walked to the lot as i promised to, thinking of what the shy, puppy eyed boy, had in store for me. the cool breeze blew toward me. it was pretty cold, but i was used to it. i sat on the bench in the lot, staring at the sun. it was getting ready to set alright. i held my arms since the breeze was getting more cool, then i felt a familiar jean jacket get put over me.

i look behind me. johnny stood there smiling at me. he then sat next to me and i noticed he turned into a bright red color.

"y/n? ever since we started dating, there's been this feeling inside me. like..."

he paused for a moment, thinking of what to say.

"like.. the missing part that was always there in my heart, is not so missing anymore. it feels... fulfilled."

i felt my ears get hot after he said that.

"and... i want to be with you... forever."

it's like he hesitated to say that. i think he felt embarrassed after saying that since he put his hand over his face.

"that's all i've ever wanted."

i responded truthfully. it was true, i did want to be with him forever. maybe even start a family.

"y'know... there was a reason why me and dal were gone for so long... i've been thinking a lot and..."

i see him pull out a box from his back pocket. is he... doing what i think he's doing?

he took a deep breath in.

"y/n, you make me the happiest human being. thank you for being the best girlfriend i've ever had. i always knew that there was something missing in my life but when i met you things totally started to change. i know i'm not fancy or rich like the socs are but, the only thing i have that they don't is loyalty. i love you, with everything that i have. this is why i want to uh... ask you..."

i smiled with my eyes filled with tears.

"will you... make me the happiest greaser alive and... marry me?"

i hugged him. crying in his arms.

"of course i will johnny."

needless to say, it was like a fairytale. us staring at the sunset, both of us having rings on our ring fingers, and the two of us living happily ever after.
