livestream: this thing that allows people to look at a person's computer screen through a free downloadable program (usually join.me)
livestreams are used for people to watch others make graphics, teach others how to make graphics, do random shit, all of the above, or other random business things professional people actually use it for.
they can also be fun. i met about 90% of my internet friends here on wattpad by them.
in livestreams viewers can annotate (draw) on the host's (person who is livestreaming) screen, talk on the phone icon, chat in the speech bubble icon, or just simply watch.
they are very useful socially to communicate with groups of people without having to all be in the same room.
we're in a livestream using the "share mouse control" option to write this together 'cause we live all the way across the country.
to create a livestream, one must download the program (join.me is most common) and open the application. after opening it, one must create an account and "start a meeting." there will be a link with a 9-digit code. this is an example: https://join.me/163-946-994
some people have links that look like this: https://join.me/oldmanmeaty
because they have the full version. when you first download join.me, you will get a 2 week/14 day trial with the full version. the full version let's you have a custom link, annotate, and pass the presenter role.
passing a presenter role means to let someone else livestream their own screen using the same link as yours, but once the livestream is closed, the link doesn't work anymore. when passing a presentor role, viewers will not be removed, but instead, the only difference is the presenter. you can find this option in the last bubble that is labelled "..."
one way to "keep" the full version for free is making new accounts because every new account gets the free trial. you do not have to redownload the app. all you have to do is log out on the app and sign in/sign up with a new email.
to join a livestream, a person (who is not the host) can click on the link and will automatically be joined into the livestream unless he/she has to "knock" which is basically clicking "knock" after entering his/her name. the only reason why someone would have to knock is if the host locks the meeting (another full version extra). the host has to allow the person to enter before he/she can enter the livestream.
if there is ever a troll or someone who is annoying or for whatever reason should leave the livestream, the host can click on the bubble with a picture of a person with a number on it, and click "remove." this makes the person unable to watch/be in the livestream.
after a livestream is over, viewers can delete the tab that was created when they entered the livestream.
no, you do not need to have join.me to enter a livestream. you have to download it if you want to present, annotate, call, or share mouse control though.
finally, remember to have fun. don't be afraid to ask questions to the presenter/chat with others. a lot of people in livestreams also came to learn, not just to chat. the only rule is to not recreate or copy people's graphics without their permission. if it's a tutorial, then it's ok, but if you are watching someone and making a graphic very similar/the same as him/her, it's considered stealing. using similar concepts or resources is fine, but copying or reiterrating their steps is a big no.
