( 3rd Person POV)

Kanda looked at her with wide eyes.

"(F/n)..."

The (h/c) girl blushed a little. "Sorry... you left your door open a little, and hearing you talking to yourself made me wonder if you were alright..."

Kanda sweatdropped. 'Great... she heard me talking to myself like a nutcase...'

When (F/n) stepped in, Kanda was brought back out of his thoughts. "I heard them telling you about my past... about my family's murders..."

Kanda stood up and looked at her. "I'm sorry for intruding on that personal information... it's just--"

"It's part of your job. I know." She said simply, her usual smile having been washed from her face. Kanda, oddly enough, felt sorry for the girl.

(F/n) looked at him. "They don't know everything. My father was a finder with the Black Order."

Kanda's eyes widened at the realization. 'Of course.'

(F/n) and Kanda sat in the room together, he on the bed and she in the desk chair that had been furnished in the room. There, she told the parts of the story that were missing, Kanda listening intently.

"We lived in a small town not far from the European Branch headquarters, so my father was able to visit us often when he wasn't investigating innocence." The girl explained. "I was twelve when that man showed up. He was asking about the earring."

"How did your father come across it?" Kanda asked.

(F/n) shook her head. "He didn't." She said as she looked at him, then moving her (h/c) hair to reveal a gold and blue earring dangling from her right ear. "I found it."

Kanda's eyes widened. "Where?"

"There were ruins near the town, and I often went their for some quiet time to read. That day, I found it in the dirt. It was so out of place that I should have seen it before then, but that was the first day I had ever seen it. I took it back home with me and showed my mother. She thought it was odd, and so she told my father." (F/n) explained further. "My father said that it was possible that the earring was made of Innocence. I remember him telling me stories of exorcists. I asked him if I was going to be an exorcist because I found it, and my parents looked conflicted." She looked down a little.

"Your father was afraid that you were the accomodator for the earring..." Kanda said. In all honesty, he was sort of hoping that this wasn't the case.

(F/n) looked down a little at her hands in her. "My father had said that we would discuss it that night... but..." a tear ran down her cheek. "That man showed up, saying that he was looking for an earring like the one I had found. My father was instantly suspicious. And then that man... he shed his skin to reveal a level two Akuma."

"A level two? But how did you know--?"

"My father told me about what to look for. Level One Akuma don't talk. This one did." (F/n) whispered as her shoulders trembled slightly.

Kanda gently took her hands, which surprised even himself. "(F/n), you don't have to continue..."

"No... I have to. I've been quiet about it for nearly seven years." She said, before taking a deep breath. She continued her tragic tale. "My father was the first to be killed by it. He was ripped apart, limb from limb. My mother told me to go and hide, and I had been about to before I saw the beast rip her heart out. It looked at me, saying I was next. And in my terror, I screamed. The earring I had been holding onto started to glow brightly." She paused again to wipe her tears, but Kanda beat her to it. His touch was surprisingly gentle, making her look at him.

(A/N: Just kiss already!!!!! XD)

Kanda softly stroked her cheek, which made him fight a dusting of pink that threatened to dance across his own. "Can you keep going...?"

(F/n) blushed softly and nodded.

"The next thing I knew... the Akuma was on the ground, slashed up like it had been attacked by some sort of bear. It had claw marks across its body." (F/n) said. "I then felt like I had to go and tell the Order what happened. So... I just started walking." She took a deep breath. "The next thing I knew, I was here."

"So, you didn't tell them that you were the one that killed the Akuma? Or did you even know yourself?" Kanda asked.

(F/n) shrugged. "I don't know... I'm still not sure what all happened..."

Kanda looked down and hummed a little, trying to fit the pieces together. It was clear that (F/n) was an accomodator, and that she killed the Akuma that had come after the Innocence in her earring. But the story still felt incomplete. Something was still missing.

"But I heard them telling you that it was an Akuma that killed my parents. I never told them anything about an Akuma. I've never mentioned it." (F/n) said.

Kanda's eyes widened. That was it. The missing link. It was--

Suddenly, the door splintered to pieces and Kanda instinctively moved to protect (F/n) the blast.

"I tOlD yOu ThAt YoU lEt ThAt LiTtlE pArT sLiP." A raspy voice said.

"DoN't bLaMe Me WhEn YoU hAd To OpEn YoUr BiG mOuTh."

The two looked at the big hole that had once been a doorway. There stood the innkeeper and his wife, mid-transformation into their Akuma forms.

"EnOuGh Of ThIs ChArAdE. We'Re KiLlInG tHe DaMn ExOrCiStS!"
