The Battle: How You Met Pt. 5

( 3rd Persom POV)

Kanda was barely fast enough to get to Mugen and activate his Innocence before the two Akuma completed their transformations into their Level Two forms.

'Shit, just my luck. Two Level Two Akuma.' Kanda thought to himself.  He stood in front of (F/n). 'There's no telling if she can activate the Innocence again. I need to get her out of here.'

Kanda glared at the two Akuma and vice versa. They seemed to be watching each other, ready to counter whatever move is made. Kanda growled. "Screw it." In a flash, Kanda grabbed (F/n) around the waist and jumped out the window with her. He landed on the ground, letting the (h/c) girl stand on her feet as he took her hand. He started running with her.

"Kanda?! What are you--?!"

"You're not trained with your Innocence yet! If you try to synchronize with it now, you could end up hurting yourself!" Kanda said. He grimaced a little. 'I can't keep running with her forever. They're going to eventually catch up with us. And--'

His own thoughts were interrupted by a pain in his stomach. He stopped and fell to his knees. "Kanda! Are you alright?" (F/n) looked at him with panicked eyes. Kanda had been about to answer when he coughed up blood. "What the hell... is this...?"

"ThAt WoUlD bE pOiSoN, dEaRy." A raspy voice said. The two turned to see the two Akuma there. The first gave a rather raspy chuckle that sounded almost like sandpaper. "To ThInK tHaT wE wOuLd HaVe An ExOrCiSt CoMe To Us InStEaD oF uS gOiNg To HuNt ThE eXoRcIsT. tHaT gIrL iS qUiTe A uSeFuL tOoL."

Kanda glared at them. "You bastards..."

"SuCh BaD lAnGuAgE iN fRoNt oF a LaDy." The second growled condescendingly.

Kanda stood up, using his sword as a cane almost. "(F-F/n)... run... get out of here..."

"YoU dOn'T sTaNd A cHaNcE aGaInSt Us WiTh ThAt PoIsOn In YoUr VeIns!" The first cackled sickeningly. "We'Ll KiLl YoU aNd ThE gIrL!!"

Suddenly, (F/n) stood between Kanda and the two Akuma, her arms outstretched like a barrier. "You won't hurt him! I won't let you!"

The two Akuma burst out into hysterical laughter. "ThIs GiRl HaS sOmE gUtS!"

"MaYbE wE cAn KeEp HeR aS a PeT!!"

(F/n) glared at the two Akuma, not phased by their ignorant laughter. "You won't be harming anyone anymore!" She shouted, confidently.

Kanda's eyes widened as the girl's earring began to glow brightly, blue and gold designs snaking down her skin, visible through the fabric of her clothes.

And then an odd thing happened. (H/c) cat ears formed on her head and a tail appeared from behind. Her nails lengthened and sharpened to a deathly point. From the girl's throat emerged a feral feline growl.

This was the form of her Innocence. The earring had transformed her into a cat creature.

~(F/n)'s POV~

With that attack in the inn, my memories from what happened that night returned to me. I had transformed into a cat creature and avenged the murder of my parents. I wasn't just some ordinary housecat. No, it was something fiercer than that. Whether it was that of a lion, a tiger, a leopard, or a panther, it was a hunter's instinct that powered me to kill the Akuma.

And with those memories and that instinct of a wild feline hunter, I knew that I was prepared to fight.

(3rd Person POV)

The two Akuma laughed again.
"LoOkS lIkE sHe'S wIlLiNgLy GoInG tO bEcOmE oUr PeT!!!"

They took their eyes off her for a second and she disappeared, reappearing again as one of akuma fell backwards. The figure of (F/n) could be seen, delivering a very powerful kick to the Akuma and sending it flying with sheer force. Before the other Akuma could react, she leaped and dug her claws deep into the beast's chest. (F/n) glared at the creature with glowing heterochromic eyes, one blue and one gold. "With your death, I have avenged all of the innocent human lives that you've killed in order to gain this form." She leaped back, her claws shredding the Akuma into ribbons like a cat tearing at a paper towel (A/N: every cat owner knows what I'm talking about XD). She landed back on her feet and her ears pricked up, but it was too late, the last Akuma sent her flying into the ground.

"YoU wIlL dIe A sLoW aNd PaInFuL dEaTh, ExOrCiSt!!!"

(F/n) glared up at the beast, though she was finding it hard to move after having the wind knocked out of her.

The Akuma was about to deliver the final blow, when it suddenly stopped. Blood spewed from its mouth, spewing all over (F/n).

"You talk too damn much." Kanda said, as the creature fell to the side and he sheathed his sword. He turned to (F/n), and he couldn't help but stare. With her cat features, she looked like a fierce huntress, the complete opposite of the girl he had met just earlier that night. He held out a hand to her. "Are you just going to sit there staring at me?"

Her cat features disappeared as she reached up to take his hand. "You're one to talk. I bet you didn't see that coming."

Kanda chuckled. "I certainly didn't. You're quite strong for a rookie."

"Not strong as you apparently. What happened to you being poisoned?"

"I heal faster than most people. It's just how my body works." Kanda wouldn't tell her about what he was. Not yet anyway.

(F/n) chuckled and then she started stumbling. For Kanda, instinct took over and he caught her. He panicked at the thought that she was injured, but with the look of peace on her face, he realizes that she was just exhausted. It made sense considering that this was only her second time synchronizing with her Innocence.

Kanda decided for now that it was best for her to recover instead of taking her to the Black Order. So, he carried her bridal style back to the inn, of course using a different room than the one where he had been staying.

As he lightly cleaned the cuts She had sustained while she slept, Kanda couldn't help but watch her sleep.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you wanted to kiss me."

The fact that she spoke without so much of a warning made Kanda jump out of his chair a bit.

(F/n) opened her eyes and looked at him, giggling. "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

"Jesus, how long have you been awake?"

"Since you started cleaning the cuts with the rag. When you stopped, I could feel you staring at me." She smiled.

Kanda blushed brightly and looked away. "D-Damnit..."

She giggled. "Sorry, that was a dirty trick. I--"

(F/n) was interrupted by a soft kiss on her lips, and it surprised her to realize that the blushing Japanese exorcist was kissing her.

When he pulled away, he have expected to get slapped, but instead he was met with a soft smile and a giggle. "Hehe, well it might not have been the most romantic way to have a first kiss, but I'm not complaining."

Kanda blushed a little and held her hand.

"You talk too much..."

"But we both know that you like me the way I am, anyway..."

Kanda couldn't help but smile a little; he wasn't about to deny it.
